Therefore, he obtained the qualification of being prophesied as someone qualified to receive empowerment. Prophecy in the context of Sutra and Tantra paths: Fourth, regarding the prophecy in the context of Sutra and Tantra paths: The venerable Nāropā said, 'Among the meanings of provisional, definitive, and essential teachings, consider the characteristics of the Pāramitāyāna (Perfection Vehicle) and the meaning of the resultant Great Bliss Mahāmudrā entirely as aspects of skillful means. Like the alchemical elixir, understand them as skillful means.' This means that the various methods of the Pāramitāyāna and the Mantrayāna (Secret Mantra Vehicle) are solely skillful means for attaining Buddhahood. Therefore, understand them as skillful means. He said. The qualities of the lineage being renowned by relying on the Guru as the Buddha: Fifth, the qualities of the lineage being renowned by relying on the Guru as the Buddha: He (Milarepa) stayed in India for about nineteen years and twenty days. Then, after consulting with the villagers in the Lhozhag area, he resided there. He perfected the power of Samadhi there, or rather, he realized it, and possessed extraordinary qualities. When his friends questioned him, he said, 'Many Gurus and Siddhas have prophesied and blessed me, and many Dakinis have also blessed me. Because I possess extraordinary realization, the lineage is renowned. If the lineage is not renowned, it is because the Dakinis are the ones with the Dharma eye; if the ancestor is not renowned, it is because Tilopa is the only Buddha; if the Guru is not renowned, it is because Nāropa is the one with the Dharma eye; if my own reputation is not renowned, it is because I am the heart-son of Nāropa; if the oral instructions are not renowned, it is because they are the wish-fulfilling jewel of the Three Jewels; if the special qualities are not renowned, it is because they are the unique transference of consciousness; this is the unique and excellent lineage.' He said. The merit of introducing Mahāmudrā through the power of blessings: Sixth, the merit of introducing Mahāmudrā through the power of blessings: Although all lineages have it, it exists if the Dakinis exist; although all ancestors have it, they certainly exist if Tilopa exists; although all Gurus have it, they exist if Nāropa exists; although all instructions have it, they certainly exist if the oral transmission exists; if one meditates, all Buddhas will be attained; if one does not meditate, the bondage will surely increase; it is not surprising to attain accomplishment through practice, it is amazing if it is attained spontaneously; if one searches, all Buddhas can be found; if one finds without searching, that is the real discovery. He said. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By gaining mastery over the mind, one attains the merit of unobstructed arising of appearances in the Samadhi (Tibetan: ཏིང་ངེ་འཛིན་, ting nge 'dzin, concentration) of dominion. Seventh, demonstrating the unobstructed appearance of Samadhi: Abiding is the channel (Tibetan: རྩ་, rtsa, root), moving is the wind (Tibetan: རླུང་, rlung, prana), arrangement is the symbol of Bodhicitta (Tibetan: བྱང་ཆུབ་སེམས་, byang chub sems, mind of enlightenment). With the whip of equanimity, completely urging on, luminosity runs without coming or going. Thus it is said. Again, it is said thus: The characteristic of the Lama (Tibetan: བླ་མ་, bla ma, spiritual teacher) is possessing the lineage, the characteristic of Samsara (Tibetan: འཁོར་བ་, 'khor ba, cyclic existence) is being without a foundation, the characteristic of appearance is being without arising, the characteristic of mind is union. Thus it is said. Again, it is said thus: Luminosity constantly abides, the city of Bardo (Tibetan: བར་དོ་, bar do, intermediate state) will certainly not be seen, for the benefit of others, the appearance of the Rupakaya (Tibetan: གཟུགས་སྐུ་, gzugs sku, form body) arises, the Dharmakaya (Tibetan: ཆོས་སྐུ་, chos sku, truth body) is unborn and free from elaboration. Thus it is said. The merit of mastering the entering of consciousness into another body through the skill of channels and winds. Eighth, performing the entering of consciousness into another body through the skill of channels and winds: Once, into the corpse of a pigeon, having fastened it with the essence of an iron nail, he performed the entering of consciousness. As the pigeon made a 'pururu' sound in the sky, he spoke thus: The illusory body is a collection of parts, possessing the wings of union, a small part of the mind, having practiced skill, the female bird and the male bird meet. Thus it is said. Also, an old cow died in a dangerous water source, so he performed the entering of consciousness into it, and as it came to the gate, he spoke thus: Abiding is the channel, moving is the wind, arrangement is the mount of Bodhicitta, with the whip of equanimity, completely urging on, the cow is liberated from the fearful precipice. Thus it is said. Again, once, a hunter found the corpse of a deer that had been shot, so he performed the entering of consciousness into it, and having come home, he spoke thus: According to the words of the holy Lama, having practiced the authentic instructions, accomplishing all that is needed, the wish-fulfilling jewel of a deer is found. Thus it is said. Again, once, in the house of a patron, a lamb died, so he performed the entering of consciousness into the lamb's corpse, and the lamb bleated 'kyu phreng phreng', and spoke thus: All Buddhas of the three times, with the essence of the deathless nectar, prepare the medicine of the sacred Dharma, the dead lamb is revived and full of joy. Thus it is said. Thus, the great translator Marpa Lotsawa, saw countless tutelary deities face to face, and considering the beings to be tamed in the future, he taught the Dharma according to the capacity of those who were vessels, and thus he made predictions. The bliss and emptiness of co-emergent wisdom, in the state of luminosity. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
