Showing the Four Transmissions from the Four Gurus of the Four Directions: From Master Caryapa, based on the Chakrasamvara Tantra, the transmission of the gTum mo teachings on the three aspects of ground, path, and fruition descended. From Master Lavapa, based on the Hevajra Tantra, the transmission of inducing sleep into luminosity and the self-liberation of the path without reliance descended. From Master Nagarjuna's Heart Essence, based on the Guhyasamaja Tantra, the teachings of illusory body, luminosity, and union, which mainly show the clear emptiness of the father tantra, descended. From Dakini Kalpa Zangmo, based on the Samvara Samudra Tantra, the transmission of transference and bardo descended. Thus, Caryapa, Nagarjuna, Lavapa, and Kalpa Zangmo, I am the guru of the four transmissions, as said by Indrabodhi and others. Furthermore, illusory body, dream, luminosity, transference, bardo, entering a corpse, and gTum mo are also called Mahamudra. The Qualities of the Powerful Yogi's Subjugation: In that country, there was a great king who respected his mother and never disobeyed her. He asked his mother what virtuous deeds he should do. His mother replied, 'Gather all the panditas and kusulus in the kingdom, build a precious mandala, and hold a tsog offering. That is the ultimate merit.' The king announced this for his mother's sake and set a date. When they arrived, they each built their own mandala. The yogi with the greatest power would be the leader, and others would not compete. So, they asked someone with great power to sit on the throne. Then, an ugly old woman came angrily, saying, 'Let me in!' The gatekeeper said, 'You can't.' The woman said, 'Who is better than me now? If my husband comes, it will be okay.' They asked, 'Where is he?' The woman said, 'He is in the burning charnel ground.' When they went to look for him, they found a human corpse hanging on a tree branch, with horse tails tied to the small toes of his feet, and a she-wolf was licking him. When they invited him, a blue-faced man with cotton clothes and heavy red eyes came. He sat equally on two thrones and competed in power. He built a mandala with deities, and Tilopa also built one. The powerful one's mandala was not destroyed, but the previous leader's mandala was destroyed by Tilopa. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh! Again, having brought many new and old corpses there, he transformed them into many pleasing offerings for tsok (tshogs, gathering) and puja (mchod pa, offering). When Tilopa fixed his attention on those things, he carried them to the charnel ground (dura khrod, Sanskrit Śmaśāna, meaning cemetery). Tilopa also transformed the corpses of the charnel ground into offerings, and the yogis (rnal 'byor pa) were not disgusted. There, Tilopa turned his body's skin inside out, and in each pore of his hair, he manifested the mandala (gzhal yas khang) of the secret mantra (gsang sngags) deity (lha) along with the charnel ground. Because many Buddhas (sangs rgyas) reside in Jambudvipa ('dzam bu'i gling), they ripen and liberate sentient beings (sems can), and emanate countless emanations. Then, riding on a lion, he brought the sun and moon down from the sky, and ran back and forth on them. But nothing happened with that, so he believed again, saying: 'Ema! This is very amazing! Such an amazing miracle (rdzu 'phrul), from where did it arise? From where did such a yogi come?' Tilopa said: 'I, Tilopa, am the protector of beings ('gro ba'i mgon), and you, are an unseen yogi.' There, he acted as the leader of the tsok. There, capable yogis prostrated to him, circumambulated him, offered a mandala (maN+Dal), and requested teachings. That capable wise one is now residing in Oddiyana (u rgyan). The merit of subduing the Tirthikas (mu stegs pa). The merit of subduing the Tirthikas is: In that place, a learned and capable Tirthika pandita (pan+Di ta) caused the Buddha's doctrine (sangs rgyas kyi bstan pa) to decline. Tilopa, observing that he was an object to be subdued, went to the place where he was teaching the Dharma. The Tirthika said: 'You have a stone for debate.' He said: 'Let you and I compete in ability and debate,' and he asked the king to be the witness and set a time. In order for the victor to enter his doctrine, they prepared three seats, and the king and the two debaters sat down. First, they debated on the reasoning of sound, measure, and scripture, and Tilopa won three times in a row. Then, they competed in miraculous powers. Both created and destroyed mandalas including deities, all of which were the same. The Tirthika tried to seize the sun, but he did not seize it, and the sun had passed. Tilopa seized the sun, but the Tirthika could not take the sun away. So, the Tirthika entered Tilopa's doctrine and shaved his hair. The Tirthika angrily emitted flames from his mouth. Tilopa was not afraid. The Tirthika said: 'The three realms (khams gsum) are all shaking, who is a yogi as fearless as I?' Tilopa emitted an even greater flame, and the two flames intertwined and burned the Tirthika's hair. The Tirthika said: 'I am...' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
