Because it is established from the beginning. If it is said to be an exclusion that is neither of the two, then the pot (thing) as the subject, you will lose the effect of exclusion. Because you are the establishment of appearance in the combination of appearance and exclusion, because you are a self-character. Also, knowledge (thing) as the subject, the way of holding the direct perception of form, that is, the clear appearance of form, is established in the meaning of form. The way of holding the conceptual thought of holding form, that is, exclusion, is established in the meaning of form, this is a real reason. If you admit it, then even in the continuum of a blind person, there will be a continuous clear appearance of clear form. Because you admit it. This is what is said, 'Exclusion is the way the mind works,' etc., six verses. Third, regarding the respective meanings, explaining the exclusion of mind that relies on real objects, and explaining the exclusion of mind that relies on unreal objects. The first part includes definition and classification. The first is the definition: the sound and meaning (thing) that relies on real objects as the subject, is the definition of the exclusion of mind that relies on real objects, because that is the opposite of its meaning. Or, the pot (thing) as the subject, in the conceptual thought that holds you, you determine that you are not a non-real object, but appear in the form of a real object, this is the definition of you as the exclusion of a real object, because that is the opposite of its meaning. Therefore, the exclusion of mind that relies on real objects, the exclusion of real objects, and the exclusion of existence have the same meaning. The second is the classification: it (thing) as the subject, if you classify it, there are two types, namely the exclusion of real objects that rely on manifestation and concealment. An example of the first type is: the general characteristic that appears in the conceptual thought of holding a pot, which is guided by the direct perception of holding a pot. The second type can be divided into three types, namely the three exclusions distinguished from the ways of functioning of subsequent inference, wrong view, and doubt. The order of the examples is: the general characteristic of the impermanence of sound that appears in the subsequent inference of understanding the impermanence of sound; the general characteristic of the horn of a rabbit that appears in the conceptual thought of holding that a rabbit has horns; the general characteristic of the impermanence of sound that appears in the doubt of whether the sound is permanent or impermanent, and thinking that the possibility of impermanence is greater. This is what is said, 'The exclusion of real objects cuts off non-real objects,' etc., three verses and three sentences. Second, regarding the exclusion that relies on non-real objects, there are three points: explaining the definition of the exclusion that relies on non-real objects, explaining the classification, and refuting the establishment of the non-real object that relies on. The first point is: the sound and meaning that relies on non-real objects, or, in the conceptual thought of holding oneself -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- དངོས་

Sound, meaning, and dharma, characterized by being determined as existent but appearing as non-existent. It is the other-exclusion of mind dependent on the non-existent, or the definition of the other-exclusion of the non-existent, because that is its meaning inverse. Therefore, the other-exclusion of mind dependent on the non-existent, the other-exclusion of the non-existent, and the other-exclusion of the non-being are the same in meaning. Second, classification: Dharma, as for you, if classified, there are two types: one is that the object to be negated cannot exist in the knowable, such as the non-existence of a rabbit's horn; the other is that the object to be negated can exist in the knowable, such as the non-existence of a pot. Therefore, there are three lines of poetry such as 'the other-exclusion of non-being cuts off being'. Then, is this other-exclusion of non-being not the other-exclusion of non-affirmation? No, because this relies on the appearance of the state of non-existence in self-grasping thought, so it is established as the other-exclusion of non-existence and the other-exclusion of non-being, which is only mind-exclusion. However, the other-exclusion of non-affirmation does not rely on the function of sound concepts, but rather negates its own object to be negated without extending to other dharmas. To understand the Three Treatises on Prajnaparamita, this point must be remembered. Third, it is divided into two parts: existent and refuting disputes. The first part: non-existent, you are not a knowable established through your own nature, because you are only established as a knowable by eliminating your object to be negated—the existent. The second part has four points: refuting similarity, refuting contradiction with valid cognition, refuting contradiction with fame, and refuting contradiction with scripture. The first point: Then, is it also necessary for the existent to be established as knowable by negating the non-existent? They are not the same, because the existent does not rely on merely negating the non-existent, but is already established from its own cause. The second point: Then, are the three unconditioned dharmas, the general characteristic, and the non-affirmation—these five—not realized through the power of self-awareness experienced by self-grasping thought, and established through their own nature? No, because the state that appears in self-grasping thought is clarity and intelligence, so it is included in the knowable. The part that is externally imputed to this state is the general characteristic, so it is included in the universal characteristic. The third point: If space is not established through its own nature, then does it not contradict the fame in both the world and the treatises? It does not contradict, because the adorned space is the form of color, so it is the imputed space. The space of aperture is merely the exclusion of obstructed places, so it is imputed as space. Unconditioned space is unconditioned, so it is not established as a substance. The fourth point: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
