Without savoring the essence of the unexcelled, all practices of elimination become a 'refutation of an object' as a thesis. If you intend to determine all 'other-eliminations that are not negations' solely by 'non-affirming negations,' then doesn't the conceptualization of 'a place without a pot,' which is the object of sound, perceive the elimination of the 'pot'? Regarding the object of the aggregation of affirmation and negation that eliminates both 'existence' and 'non-existence,' will the aspects of both affirmation and negation appear? If asked this, is there anyone skilled enough to retort? If one can assert that knowing and measuring the three, such as 'unconditioned' and 'uncreated,' are explained only as 'non-affirmations,' and that the thesis is pervaded only by 'self-characteristics,' then the root of your thesis is not damaged. Since you cannot speak in this way, it is the conduct of discerning scholars to destroy the root of the opponent's tenets with three kinds of contradictions: scripture, reason, and accepted commitments. Although all 'other-eliminations' are included in the 'two divisions of negation,' the distinction between these two is explained by being summarized in the eighth chapter. Therefore, this is not a discussion of 'other-elimination' as 'non-affirmation.' Therefore, the two aspects of 'existence' and 'non-existence' as 'other-eliminations' are distinguished solely by the 'other-elimination' of sound and mind. Are those who explain the 'other-elimination' of 'non-existence' as the 'other-elimination' of 'non-affirmation' not wandering astray? The basis of elimination, the 'other-elimination' of a thing, such as a pot, does not depend on the eliminator's sound and conceptualization. The mere clarification of the object of elimination, 'not a pot,' is considered to be the 'other-elimination' of 'non-affirmation,' which is an imputation that the sound and conceptualization of the eliminator, 'pot,' cut off the object of elimination, 'not a pot.' This is the delightful good saying of the 'Three Hundred Thousand Verses,' This explanation of the 'Examination of Other-Elimination,' which is the fourth chapter of the 'Key Essence Clarifying the Difficult Points of the Treasury of Valid Cognition,' was composed by Nagajuna, who is skilled in poetry, whose heart was infused with the nectar of the speech of Sarasvati, and who was embraced by the hand of Manjushri Vajra, at the great Dharma site of Pal Nyan Yö, the Vulture Peak, in the Tashi Serkhang's Tsering Gurkhang, the immortal garden of the gods. May this also increase the wisdom of the clear-minded! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
