Thus spoke the glorious *Three Hundred Thousand* (Dpal 'bum phrag gsum pa): I have clearly elucidated the tenets of the *Gentle Protector, Sakya* ('Jam mgon Sa skya pa) through wisdom. Regarding these points, one should dispel the following doubts with small intellect: Then, the emptiness of phenomena that apprehends 'non-existence' as its object, should be eliminative (blo sel), because it is an exclusion (*gzhan sel*) of 'non-existence', that is, an exclusion of the negative exclusion (*med dgag*) of 'non-existence'. Also, a pot, should be eliminative, because it is an exclusion of an entity (*dngos po*), that is, an exclusion of a self-character (*rang mtshan*). If it is said: 'Whatever is an exclusion of a self-character is an exclusion of an entity, because a self-character and an entity have the same meaning.' This is a difference in the boundaries of the use of terms. For you, the emptiness of phenomena that are 'non-self-character' should be an exclusion of a self-character, because it is an exclusion of the negative exclusion of a self-character. Also, a pot, should be an exclusion of impermanence, because it is an exclusion of a self-character, and the two have the same meaning. If you concede, then it should be an exclusion. And so on, and so forth. Also, a place without a pot should be a non-affirming negation (*ma yin dgag*) exclusion, because it is a non-affirming negation. Why is that? The *Self-Commentary* (rang 'grel) says: 'For example, the absence of a pot, and a place without a pot, are like a mere negation, and a collection of negation and affirmation.' Also, the general character (don spyi) of a pot should be a common basis for both exclusion and affirmation, because it is a collection of both exclusion and affirmation, that is, a non-affirming negation. If it is said: 'Because the aforementioned treatise states it in this way, it is not pervasive.' The meaning of this text is: from the perspective of exclusion, a place without a pot is shown as an example of a non-affirming negation, because it is at the time of identifying the affirmation from the perspective of exclusion. Regarding the second objection, in the *Essence of Reasoning* (rtog snying), although an answer was given, it does not pervade one's own tenet, because the meaning of the collection of exclusion and affirmation is that the negation (dgeg pa) is cut off, and the throwing away of other phenomena is established as being together. Also, the general character of a rabbit's horn should be an exclusion of an entity, whatever is an exclusion of a concept is not an exclusion that relies on an entity. If you concede, then it, should be an entity that is the basis for you to establish as an exclusion. If you say this, then it is good to make it non-pervasive here, although if it is explained as an exclusion that relies on an entity, it is like that, but it is not appropriate to insist that the explanation has pervasiveness. If the latter reason is not established, then, it, you cut off non-existence, affirm existence, From this occasion, it is directly shown that... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Therefore, the universal characteristic is the view of excluding others. Therefore, if admitted, then the conceptualization of grasping a rabbit's horn will appear as the image of the actual non-existence of a rabbit's horn. Furthermore, regarding our proof: if it is a universal characteristic, then it must be the view of excluding others. Because knowable is the view of excluding others. If not established, then, with 'it' (knowable) as the subject, 'you' (knowable) must be the exclusion of others by negation, because 'you' are the exclusion of others by negation of non-being, because it is the establishment of exclusion, because 'you' are establishment, and 'you' are not the establishment of appearance. Furthermore, with 'it' (knowable) as the subject, 'you' (knowable) must be the exclusion of others by negation of non-being, because 'you' are negation of non-being, and it is either negation of non-being or non-affirming negation, and it is not non-affirming negation. Firstly, because it is a universal characteristic. Therefore, if it is the exclusion of others, then it must be either the exclusion of others by negation of non-being or the exclusion of others by non-affirming negation, because if it is so, then it must be either negation of non-being or non-affirming negation. If it is the exclusion of others by consciousness, then it must be the exclusion of others by negation of non-being, but if it is the exclusion of others by negation of non-being, then it is not necessarily so, because if it is so, then it must be either the exclusion of others by substance or the exclusion of others by non-substance. If not established, then argue with knowable etc. as the subject. Furthermore, with the general meaning of knowable as the subject, it must be the exclusion of others by substance, because the exclusion of consciousness is not the exclusion of others by non-substance. If admitted, then the conceptualization of grasping knowable will appear as the image of knowable being a substance. If the latter is not established, then with 'it' as the subject, 'you' are not that, because 'you' are the exclusion of others that relies on both substance and non-substance. If you say this, then it is not pervasive here. 'Because of reliance, the general meaning is also threefold,' meaning that as the basis of reliance, there are three possibilities: entirely substance, entirely non-substance, and having aspects of both, but when summarized, it can be concluded as two: substance and non-substance, because the Treasury of Reasoning states that it is concluded as two: the exclusion of others by substance and the exclusion of others by non-substance. If these are summarized by a compendium, then the commentators of the Treasury of Reasoning, Goshal and his disciple, unanimously declared: 'The two types of exclusion of others, substance and non-substance, must be explained separately as the exclusion of establishment and negation.' If unconditioned phenomena, general meanings, knowable, measurable, etc., are taken as the basis of debate, when examining what they are, since three inevitable circular arguments will arise, won't the root of your tenets collapse? If you say that negation of non-being pervades the substance of the excluding aspect, then is there a connection between them? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
