Because it appears to be mixed with your conceptual thought; because you establish it as mixed due to the reason that it appears to be mixed with conceptual thought; because you are mixed. Please observe whether it is a contradictory thing. Again, the general meaning of a pot, as the subject, you should not appear as an object of conceptual thought, because you appear as a non-object of conceptual thought; because you appear as a non-object of inference; because inference proves you as a non-object. If you assert it as the root, then you should appear as an object of conceptual thought, because you cut off the inability to function and appear as able to function in conceptual thought; because you are the other exclusion of a real entity. Do you remember all three? If that is the case, then the words are meaningless, because for you, the unclear thing, as the subject, you should not appear as unclear to conceptual thought, because you appear as clear to it; because it appears as clear to inference; because inference proves you as clear; because it proves it as clear. If you say that, then for you, the three wheels will be reversed. Then, listen to this reasoning of meaning! The thing that can function, as the subject, should be other exclusion, because it is determination. The pervasion is real. The sign is there. Because you are the determination of meaning; because you are all three, such as the non-possessive determination of meaning; because you are all three, such as the non-possessive determination of reality; Because you are the characteristic of reality. Pervasion. In the 'Seven Treatises Clearly Explained', it says: 'If the characteristic and the signified are pure, then the three determinations of the meaning of what is said must be complete.' etc. In the root text of the 'Treasury of Reasoning', it says: 'All determinations of sound and meaning, there is nothing other than these three.' If it is said that it is not pervasive because it is the determination of meaning, then it is unreasonable to say that there are two determinations, the distinction of sound and the determination of meaning, for determination, because if it is the determination of sound, it must also not be determination; if it is the determination of meaning, it must also not be determination. If you say it is not pervasive, then you are self-contradictory, then the statement of non-possessive determination, as the subject, should not be determination, because it is the determination of sound; because it is the statement of determination. If you accept it, then it should be, because it is a general characteristic. Please remember these three! Again, the thing that cannot function, as the subject, is not determination, because it is the determination of meaning. The pervasion is real. The sign is there.

Because they are all three aspects of exclusion (rnam gcod gsum). Because they are definitions. This pervasion is established as agreeable to both of us. If the first reason above is not established, then it follows that: If sound is an exclusion, then it must be sound. If it is sound, then it must not be an exclusion. Furthermore, that which has the ability to perform a function (don byed nus pa), as the subject, necessarily is a universal (spyi mtshan), because it is a negation (ldog pa), namely, the base negation (gzhi ldog), the self-negation (rang ldog), and the purpose negation (don ldog), all three. In sequence: because it is the base negation of knowable, because it is the self-negation of the ability to perform a function, and because it is the purpose negation of a thing. When the omniscient one establishes the pervasion that 'if it is a negation, then it is necessarily a universal,' it seems to enter into the meaning of the tenet, but if a response of 'the reason is not established' is not given to these three negations, and it becomes necessary to say 'the above pervasion is not established,' then it is like a lion uttering the sound of a fox. You cannot give a response of 'the reason is not established,' because you yourself have stated that 'non-deceptive knowledge' is the purpose negation of valid cognition (tshad ma), and so forth. The venerable Shakya Chokden (dpal shAkya mchog ldan), in the 'Essence of Discrimination' (rtog snying), gave a response of 'the reason is not established' to these three negations, and the definition of these three negations is: In the face of exclusion, merely excluding that which is not a thing (dngos po min pa) itself, that is the self-negation of a thing; in the face of exclusion, merely excluding that which is unable to perform a function (don byed mi nus pa) itself, that is the purpose negation of a thing; and above that, excluding that which is not knowable (shes bya ma yin pa), and so forth, those various qualities are its base negation. Although your wisdom is very vast, you still cannot escape the path of reasoning. Merely excluding that which is not a thing itself in the face of discrimination, as the subject, it necessarily follows that you are merely separated from that which is not a thing, and that you are one with a thing. Because you are the self-negation of a thing. Furthermore, merely excluding that which is unable to perform a function itself in the face of discrimination, as the subject, it necessarily follows that you are the definition of a thing. Because you are the purpose negation of a thing. Furthermore, merely excluding that which is not a vase itself in the face of exclusion, as the subject, it necessarily follows that you are the example of a thing. Because you are the base negation of a thing. I will present the pervasion of these four inferences before the wise, and the acceptance of these four reasons and the responses to the four expectations cannot be given, because you are a universal. Furthermore, regarding the classification of this exclusion, the venerable Shakya Chokden said in the 'Essence of Discrimination': 'The mental dharma that takes as its object the manner of excluding the opposite side in a way that agrees in meaning with the sound and discrimination of its own object, is the definition of exclusion.' Among these, from the perspective of its definition, the base exclusion of a thing and the thing --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
