All non-erroneous cognitions have a manifest object (snang yul, the object that appears), 'and non-conceptual erroneous cognitions do not have a manifest object.' So, the sense consciousness (dbang shes, sensory consciousness) of the double moon appearance has a manifest object, because the sense consciousness of the double moon appearance is its manifest object, 'because you are the object that directly appears to the sense consciousness of the double moon appearance in a non-aspectual way.' This premise is valid, because in the 'Seven Treatises' Commentary' (sde bdun rab gsal) it says: 'The object that appears either by way of imparting an image or directly appears in a non-aspectual way is the definition of a manifest object.' The root reason (rtsa rtags) is established there, because you are self-awareness perception (rang rig mngon sum, direct experience of self-awareness) to it. This premise is valid, because you yourself said that self-awareness perception cognizes its own object in a non-aspectual way. If the root reason is not established, saying that the sense consciousness of the double moon appearance is self-awareness perception to its own nature, but it does not acknowledge it itself, then its manifest object exists, because its nature is its manifest object. The reason is as before. If it is said that it is so flawed, then the manifest object of the sense consciousness of the double moon appearance exists, because the object of the sense consciousness of the double moon appearance is its manifest object. If it is not established, then that subject (chos can, the subject of the argument), you are that, you are that which clearly appears, because it is its object.' Both reasons are established by the subject. If it is not established, then that subject, your object is your own object, because you are consciousness.' Furthermore, the sense consciousness of the double moon appearance, you have a manifest object, because you have an object that clearly appears.' This is pervasion (khyab, universal affirmative proposition), because in the 'Self-Commentary' (rang 'grel) it says: 'The general definition of appearance is what is seen by non-conceptual consciousness.' The root reason is established there, because you are non-conceptual consciousness.' Furthermore, conception (rtog pa, concept) you have an object that clearly appears, because you have a manifest object, if you have an appearing object, because having a manifest object does not pervade. If the latter is not established, then non-conceptual mistaken consciousness (log shes, mistaken consciousness) refutes. The reason is established, because you have an object that clearly appears. If the root is not established, saying that to place it as its manifest object, it needs to either impart an image to it, or directly appear in a non-aspectual way, then your own fundamental assertion appears there, but cannot escape, the object of the sense consciousness of the double moon appearance, you are its manifest object, because you are the object that appears by way of imparting an image, because you are other-awareness (gzhan rig, cognition of other things) to it. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
