The definition of consciousness is a cognition that can recognize things by its own power, without relying on external things. From a classification point of view, there are six types of consciousness, from the consciousness arising from the contact of the eye faculty with the external world, to the consciousness arising from the contact of the mind faculty with the external world. Any of the five pervasive mental factors, when the mind moves its own power to the object, this cognition is the definition of attention. From a classification point of view, there are six types of attention, such as the attention arising from the contact of the eye faculty with the external world. The aggregation of root, object, and consciousness, which can judge the changes of the object by its own power, is the definition of contact. From a classification point of view, there are six types of contact, such as the contact arising from the contact of the eye faculty with the external world. Any of the five pervasive mental factors, when it creates its own object by its own power, this cognition is the definition of attention. From a classification point of view, there are six types of attention, such as the attention arising from the contact of the eye faculty with the external world. If these five pervasive mental factors are classified together, from the perspective of nature, there are three types: good, non-good, and neutral; from the perspective of dependence, there are two types: root consciousness and mind consciousness; from the perspective of realm, there are three types of the three realms. Second, explain the five specific object mental factors. As the verse says: 'Desire, conviction, mindfulness, concentration, wisdom, these are the five specific objects.' There are five in total. Any of the five specific object mental factors, the mental factor that pursues its own object by its own power; the mental factor that generates a strong desire for its own object by its own power; the mental factor that does not forget the characteristics of its own object by its own power; the mental factor that focuses on its own object by its own power; the mental factor that distinguishes its own object by its own power, these are the definitions of these five mental factors in order. From a classification point of view, from the perspective of nature, there are three types: good, non-good, and neutral; from the perspective of dependence, there are two types: root consciousness and mind consciousness; from the perspective of realm, there are three types of the three realms. Third, the eleven good mental factors such as faith. As the verse says: 'Faith and non-negligence, lightness and special abandonment, shame and no greed, no anger and no ignorance, diligence and non-harm, are the eleven good.' The so-called faith, non-negligence, lightness, equanimity, shame mental factor, embarrassment mental factor, non-greed mental factor, non-anger mental factor, non-ignorance mental factor, diligence, non-harm, these eleven are called the eleven good mental factors. For each good mental factor, from the perspective of nature, there are two types: contaminated and uncontaminated; from the perspective of dependence, there are... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are two types each of sensory consciousness and mental consciousness. From the perspective of realms, there are three types each in the three realms. From the perspective of grounds, each of the nine grounds has nine types of aggregates. Some say that there is no all-pervasive aggregate, but this is because they have not distinguished between the all-pervasive that is separated from the eleven virtuous dharmas and the special all-pervasive that is aggregated by samadhi, so it should not be trusted. Fourth, the six root afflictions are: 'Attachment, hatred, ignorance, pride, view, and doubt.' These six afflictions are the root afflictions. According to the order, the characteristics of the six afflictions are: Which root affliction is the consciousness that is particularly attached to its own object with its own power? What is that? Which is the consciousness that completely torments its own object with its own power? What is that? Which is the consciousness that is particularly ignorant of its own object with its own power? What is that? Which is the consciousness that is particularly arrogant of its own object with its own power? What is that? Which is the consciousness that particularly grasps its own object in a perverse way with its own power? What is that? Which is the consciousness that is particularly hesitant about its own object with its own power? In order, they are: attachment, hatred, ignorance, pride, the view divided from the six root afflictions, and the nature of the doubt divided from the six root afflictions. The view divided from the six root afflictions can be divided into: self-view, extreme view, wrong view, view of holding views as supreme, and view of holding precepts and vows as supreme, so there are ten root afflictions. These ten root afflictions, distinguished from the perspective of nature: hatred must be evil, and the remaining nine have both evil and neutral. From the perspective of support: attachment, hatred, and ignorance have both sensory consciousness and mental consciousness, and the remaining seven must be mental consciousness. From the perspective of antidote: the last three views and the root affliction doubt must be abandoned by seeing, and the remaining six have both abandoned by seeing and abandoned by meditation. From the perspective of grounds, hatred must be aggregated by the desire realm, and the remaining nine are aggregated by the nine grounds. Fifth, the first set of twenty secondary afflictions is: 'Anger, resentment, affliction, spite, jealousy, stinginess, deceit, cunning, and arrogance.' These ten are the first set of secondary afflictions. Among these ten secondary afflictions, the first seven must be evil, and the last three deceit, cunning, and arrogance have both evil and neutral. From the perspective of support, all ten are mental consciousness. From the perspective of antidote, all ten are abandoned by both seeing and meditation. From the perspective of realms, the first seven --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
