Thesis: You appear as direct perception because you are direct perception, because you are sense direct perception. If not established, then the dharma is the subject: you become either the sense direct perception that cognizes existence or the inference that cognizes non-existence, because there is a sense direct perception that cognizes your existence, and there is no inference that cognizes your non-existence, because you exist. If not established, then the dharma is the subject: you exist because you exist. If the root is accepted, then knowable is the subject: for the direct perception that cognizes the existence of a rabbit's horn, or the inference that cognizes the non-existence of a rabbit's horn, there is no appearance, because for the valid cognition that becomes either one, there is no cause for appearance. If the pervasion is accepted, if not established, then the appearance of the valid cognition that becomes either one is the subject: you have no cause because you are permanent. If not established, then the valid cognition that becomes either one is the subject: your appearance is permanent because you are conceptual, because you are inference. If not established, then the rabbit's horn is the subject: the valid cognition that becomes either the sense direct perception that cognizes your existence or the inference that cognizes your non-existence is inference, because there is no sense direct perception that cognizes your existence, and there is an inference that cognizes your non-existence. The second reason (referring to non-existence) is established because you do not exist. If the former is accepted, then the valid cognition that becomes either one is the subject: you have appearance because you are knowledge. If the root of the consequence does not include it, then the aforementioned dharma, which is the valid cognition that becomes either the sense direct perception that cognizes existence or the inference that cognizes non-existence, is the subject: you are related to your cause because you are a real entity. The reason is as before. If accepted, then if your cause does not exist, then your non-existence is pervasive because you are related to your cause. The reason is accepted. If accepted, then as before. If it does not include it, then it is the subject: if you and your cause do not exist, then the relationship of non-arising is established because you are related to your cause. If accepted, then if your cause does not exist, then the relationship of your non-arising is established because it is accepted. If accepted, then if your cause does not exist, then you must not exist. Furthermore, the subsequent pervasion that establishes sound as impermanent through the reason of being produced relies on the correctness of the establishing statement, therefore, the person who ascertains the subsequent pervasion that establishes sound as impermanent through the reason of being produced is also such a person.

If someone proposes an argument claiming a common basis, that someone is suitable for correctly stating an argument to prove that sound is impermanent through 'what is made' (བྱས་རྟགས,hetu), and also suitable for refuting its reverse implication, then this is appropriate. This is to establish the point of the scripture, 'For two kinds of wrong views, two kinds of counteracting reasons have been explained.' If you accept this, then, as a person with such a common basis, you must be someone who is uncertain about the reverse implication of 'what is made' (བྱས་རྟགས,hetu) proving that sound is impermanent, because you are suitable for correctly stating an argument to prove that sound is impermanent through 'what is made' (བྱས་རྟགས,hetu). If you accept this, then you must not be someone who is certain about this, because you are someone who is certain about the forward implication of 'what is made' (བྱས་རྟགས,hetu) proving that sound is impermanent, because you are a subject. To establish the point of the root scripture, if you do not concede this, then, if someone is suitable for correctly stating an argument to prove the forward implication of 'what is made' (བྱས་རྟགས,hetu) proving that sound is impermanent, then he must be suitable for correctly stating an argument to prove the reverse implication of 'what is made' (བྱས་རྟགས,hetu) proving that sound is impermanent. Because if someone has completed the work of correctly stating an argument to prove the forward implication of 'what is made' (བྱས་རྟགས,hetu) proving that sound is impermanent, then there is no basis for him to be suitable for correctly stating an argument to prove that sound is impermanent. Because if someone has ascertained the forward implication of 'what is made' (བྱས་རྟགས,hetu) proving that sound is impermanent, then there is no basis for him to also be suitable for correctly stating an argument to prove the reverse implication of 'what is made' (བྱས་རྟགས,hetu) proving that sound is impermanent. If it is not established, then it is as before. If you accept the root, then the person who is suitable for correctly stating an argument to prove the forward implication of 'what is made' (བྱས་རྟགས,hetu) proving that sound is impermanent, and the person who is suitable for correctly stating an argument to prove the reverse implication of 'what is made' (བྱས་རྟགས,hetu) proving that sound is impermanent, must be the same thing. Because you accept this. If you accept this, then, in the self-commentary, the point of the scripture, 'For two kinds of wrong views, two kinds of counteracting reasons have been explained,' would not be established, because 'Therefore, for what is desired to be destroyed, harmful things are not allowed to enter; for what is desired not to be destroyed, indifferent things are not allowed to enter. Therefore, they are different objects.' If someone says this, then what would an impartial person say? Think about it! Now, explaining the way of understanding contradiction. Second, explaining the categories of contradiction. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
