It is named 'collection of names'. Just as one side of a cloth is called 'cloth side', there are two such cases. Third, words have two aspects: definition and classification. First, it is the audible sound that shows the difference in meaning without relying on the combination of multiple names, which is the definition of a word that distinguishes between name, word, and letter. Therefore, in general, although the sounds of name, word, and letter, which are expressions, have the same meaning, the name, word, and letter, when distinguished as three, do not have the same meaning, because it can be understood by examining the power of establishing definitions. Second, the classification includes: words of action, combinations of words, and particles of words. The first includes: first, words that show essence; second, words that show action; third, words of the agent; fourth, words of purpose; fifth, words of origin; sixth, words of relation; seventh, words of location; and eighth, words of address. The first is like the word 'tree'. The second is like 'tall tree'. The third is like 'the tree strikes others'. The fourth is like 'water the tree'. The fifth is like 'flowers bloom from the tree'. The sixth is like 'the branches of the tree'. The seventh is like 'a bird's nest is on the tree'. The eighth is like 'hey, bring the tree'. Second, the combination of words. As stated in 'The Door of Expression': 'Many roots and combinations of words, as well as distinctions and branches, base and same-base combinations, common base and its offspring, distinctions and mere directions.' There are ten types. The first is the combination of many roots, which is the combination of cases between two or more words, such as the combined word 'the one with lotus jewel', which refers to Avalokiteśvara holding a string of jewels and a lotus. The second is the combination of mere words, which is the combination of the second to seventh of the eight action words, for example: the second combination, relying on Dharma is called 'Dharma-reliant'. The third combination, protected by the Buddha is called 'Buddha-protected'. The fourth combination, combining for the sake of excellence is called 'excellent combination'. The fifth combination, arising from Dharma is called 'Dharma-arisen'. The sixth combination, the door of Dharma is called 'Dharma-door'. The seventh combination, abiding in Dharma is called 'Dharma-abiding'. The fundamental third is the combination of branches, which is the word that combines the branch of relation or the branch of order. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For example, in order, 'sense organs such as the body' refers to the five sense organs, and 'aggregates such as form' refers to the five aggregates. The fourth root is the collection of distinctions: combining characteristics and the entities possessing those characteristics in either order to form a collection. For example, to convey 'this is blue, it is a lotus,' 'blue' and 'lotus' are combined as 'blue lotus'; to convey 'this is a lotus, it is blue,' 'lotus' and 'blue' are combined as 'lotus blue.' The fifth root is the collection of bases: a term that collects many entities possessing a certain characteristic, such as 'all phenomena.' The sixth root is the collection of a single base: a term that collects all entities possessing a certain characteristic into a single characteristic, such as 'all conditioned things are impermanent.' The seventh root is the collection of common bases: combining a characteristic and an entity possessing that characteristic on a single base, or combining two characteristics on a single entity possessing that characteristic. For example, 'both blue and a lotus' is called 'lotus,' and 'both blue and crushed' is called 'lotus,' respectively. The eighth root is the collection of its possessor: As stated in the 'Door of Expression': 'Whether it is essence or dharma, to understand their differences, there are three collections of its possessor: the action word, the objective case, and the possessive.' That is, combining different essences, or combining two different characteristics of one essence, is called the collection of its possessor. It can be divided into three types: the collection of action words, the collection of the objective case, and the collection of the possessive. The first type, from the second collection of its possessor among the eight action words to the seventh collection of its possessor, there are six. For example, 'dependent on dharma' is called 'dharma-dependent,' and so on, similar to before. The second type omits the objective case word, and the third type omits the agent, and so on. This point must be remembered. The second type is the collection of the objective case: combining an entity possessing a characteristic and the characteristic, or combining similar things and similar characteristics on the same base. For example, 'both a lotus and blue' is called 'blue lotus'; 'both a person and like a lion' is called 'lion-person.' The third type is the collection of the possessive: combining the 'of' of number and the 'of' of collection, either identically or differently. For example, combining the number 'five' and the collective meaning of 'aggregates' is called 'five aggregates.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
