Question: What is exclusion (Tibetan: གཞན་སེལ།, meaning: excluding others)? Answer: Because you are not an exclusion of mind that relies on non-existence. Question: If it is admitted, then it is unreasonable for you to become the basis of establishing something as exclusion, that exists. Answer: Because you admit it. Question: If the latter reason is not established, then the rabbit's horn (Tibetan: རི་བོང་རྭ།, meaning: rabbit horn), as the subject of the proposition, appears to you as non-existent in your conceptual mind, which is unreasonable. Answer: Because your general meaning (Tibetan: དོན་སྤྱི།, meaning: general meaning) is the exclusion of mind that relies on non-existence. Question: If it is admitted, then it is unreasonable not to appear. Answer: Because in your conceptual mind, you appear as existent, that is, in your conceptual mind, you appear as a rabbit's horn. Question: If you say: Think like this, if you are existent, then your general meaning is pervasive of the exclusion of mind that relies on existence; if you are non-existent, then your general meaning is not pervasive of the exclusion of mind that relies on non-existence, because the general meanings of rabbit's horn, barren woman's child, sky lotus, etc., are the exclusion of mind that relies on existence. Answer: Because in the conceptual mind that grasps rabbit's horn, etc., after determining that rabbit's horn, etc., are non-existent, they appear as existent. Question: Pervasive, because it is said: 'The exclusion of the existent cuts off the non-existent.' Question: Then, what is the thing that is the basis for establishing the general meaning of rabbit's horn, etc., as exclusion? Answer: Generally, it can be considered that it is only a horn, only a vase, only a lotus, because in the rabbit's horn, it cuts off what is not a horn and appears as a horn, and in the conceptual mind that grasps the sky lotus, it determines that it is not a lotus and appears as a lotus. Or, in the face of the conceptual mind that grasps the rabbit's horn, the rabbit's horn itself is the general meaning of the rabbit's horn, which is the thing that is the basis for establishing exclusion, because in its face, it is existent. Question: If it is exclusion, then it is unreasonable to be pervasive of one of the exclusion of mind and the negative negation (Tibetan: མེད་དགག, meaning: negative exclusion). Answer: Because exclusion is determined to be these two, it is not established. Question: If it is admitted, then the knowable (Tibetan: ཤེས་བྱ།, meaning: knowable) as the subject of the proposition, is unreasonable there. Answer: Because it is there. Question: If it is not established, then it is unreasonable there, because it is the exclusion of non-negation (Tibetan: མ་ཡིན་དགག, meaning: non-negative), because it is non-negation. Answer: Pervasive, because it is said: 'Therefore, the negation and affirmation of exclusion, and the negative and non-negative, have the same meaning.' Question: The root reason is unreasonable there, because it is an established common characteristic (Tibetan: སྤྱི་མཚན།, meaning: common characteristic). Question: Knowable, as the subject of the proposition, it is unreasonable for you to become exclusion. Answer: Because you are the affirmation of exclusion. Question: Pervasive, because if it is the negation of exclusion, then it must be exclusion. Question: The above reason is unreasonable there. Answer: What is affirmation? Because it is not the affirmation of appearance, if the latter reason is not established, then it becomes self-characteristic (Tibetan: རང་མཚན།, meaning: self-characteristic). Question: In your conceptual mind, you appear as... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If your mind has other-exclusion, it follows that it has other-exclusion, because your mind has other-exclusion. This inference is valid because the inference 'what is empty of not-you is your negation other-exclusion, because you have negation other-exclusion' is valid, but the basis is not established. If you accept it, it is obvious. If you take manifestation, clarity, and direct perception as the subject, then you will fail, because your reason is simple. If you accept it, then the conceptual thought that grasps these three will appear as these three. If you accept it, then the conceptual thought that grasps manifestation should not appear as manifestation, because you are a conceptual thought. The same applies to the other two. If it is not universally applicable at the root, then take both the pillar and the pot as the subject. Accept the reason. If you accept it, then both the pillar and the pot should be empty of both the pillar and the pot. If you accept it, then there should be something that is both. Here, the scholar Gewo Rabjampa treats the other-exclusion of non-existence and the other-exclusion of negation as the same, which needs to be examined by scholars. Then, the other-exclusion of existence and the other-exclusion of non-affirmation should also be the same, because you accept it. If you accept it, then the general characteristic of knowable things should be that. Because the general characteristic of knowable things is the other-exclusion of existence. If you accept it, then the knowable thing, your grasping conceptual thought should appear to you as existence, because your general characteristic of things is the other-exclusion of existence. This point needs to be remembered. Next, the way of understanding the expressed and the expresser will be explained. The third is to explain the way of understanding the expressed and the expresser. These two have both definitions and divisions. First, the definition is: what is to be understood from the sign is the definition of the expressed; the sign that makes one understand is the definition of the expresser. Second, the divisions include common divisions and detailed explanations of the divisions of the expresser. In the common divisions, there are the expressed and expresser at the time of explanation, and the expressed and expresser at the time of application. At the time of explanation, there are the direct expressed and expresser, and the apprehended expressed and expresser. For example, the general meaning of a vase is the direct expressed of the sound that expresses 'vase', because it is the content expressed by that sound; the vase itself is the apprehended expressed, because it is the content referred to by that sound. The sound that expresses 'vase' is the direct expresser, because it directly expresses both the vase and the general meaning of the vase. The general sound that appears in the conceptual thought that grasps the vase is the apprehended expresser, because it expresses it. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
