Divisions: There are three types: exclusion of others that takes truth as its object and becomes the object of inference; exclusion of others that takes falsehood as its object and becomes the object of distorted consciousness; and exclusion of others that takes both as objects and becomes the object of doubt. Examples are, respectively: for the inference that cognizes a pot, the pot appears as a pot; for the distorted consciousness that grasps a pot, the pot appears as a pot; and for the doubt that grasps a pot, the pot appears as a pot. In summary, the exclusion of others that relies on manifest phenomena, the exclusion of others that relies on non-manifest hidden phenomena, and the exclusion of others that relies on phenomena are all the same in meaning, because manifest phenomena, hidden phenomena, and phenomena are all the same in meaning, because if something is knowable, then it is necessarily manifest in direct perception and hidden in inference. Second, the exclusion of others that relies on non-things includes three aspects: definition, classification, and categories. First, what is the definition? It is the exclusion of others by the mind, which is both the basis for establishing the exclusion of self and others, and is also a non-thing, existing within the scope of the possibility of a common basis. This is its definition. Second, it includes: the exclusion of others that relies on non-things, the exclusion of others of non-things, and the exclusion of others of non-existence, all three of which have the same meaning. Second, classification: it is divided into two types: the exclusion of others of non-things based on the fact that the object to be negated exists in the knowable, and the exclusion of others of non-things based on the fact that the object to be negated does not exist in the knowable. The first type is like the general concept of the absence of a pot. The second type is like the general concept of the absence of rabbit horns. Third, the exclusion of others in the sense of self-characterization includes three aspects: definition, classification, and examples. First, what is the definition? It is the common basis that is entered by conceptual thought after cutting off contradictory things, and that is also established in meaning and recognized by valid cognition. This is its definition. Second, it and the thing are the same in meaning. The example is a pot. Therefore, if something is the exclusion of others in the sense of self-characterization, then it is not the exclusion of others, because if something is the exclusion of others in the sense of self-characterization, then it is self-characterization, and if it is the exclusion of others, then it is a universal characteristic. Therefore, the exclusion of others must be either the exclusion of others by the mind, the exclusion of negation, or the exclusion of non-negation, because the exclusion of others in the sense of self-characterization must not be the exclusion of others. Second, from the perspective of what should be negated, it is divided into the exclusion of negation and the exclusion of non-negation. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2. The second part has two aspects: definition and example. The first is: What is exclusion of others (gzhan sel)? The definition of exclusion of others is that after negating its own object of negation, it projects other phenomena onto it. The example is like this: in the conceptualization of grasping a pot, after cutting off what is not a pot, the pot appears as a pot. Therefore, to summarize the essential points: the establishment of appearance and the establishment of exclusion, the exclusion of establishment divided by the two; and non-implicative negation (ma yin dgag) divided by implicative negation (med dgag) and non-implicative negation; the exclusion of others of non-implicative negation and the combination of negation and affirmation; and the combination of negation and affirmation divided by mere negation, these four are accepted as one meaning. And it is sufficient to accept that general characteristic and exclusion of others are one meaning. In this way, if it is a general characteristic or exclusion of others, then it must be either the exclusion of others of non-implicative negation or the exclusion of others of implicative negation. If it is the exclusion of others of mind, then it must be the exclusion of others of non-implicative negation. The exclusion of others of non-implicative negation is not necessarily the exclusion of others of mind, because knowable and measurable things are the exclusion of others of non-implicative negation, but not the exclusion of others of mind. Therefore, The establishment of appearance and the establishment of exclusion, the establishment of appearance divided by the two, and things are the same in meaning. The combination of negation and affirmation and mere negation, the mere negation divided by the two, and implicative negation are the same in meaning. This is in accordance with the supreme treasure of valid cognition reasoning, which is combined with the view of the Three Hundred Thousand Treatises, as the root text of the Treasure of Reasoning says: 'Appearance is the object of things, and exclusion has two: negation and affirmation.' And in the self-commentary, it says: 'Therefore, the two of exclusion, negation and affirmation, and the two of implicative negation and non-implicative negation, have the same meaning.' Therefore, it is meaningless for people to say that non-implicative negation and affirmation have the same meaning, because the establishment of appearance is established, but it is not non-implicative negation. For these meanings, it is necessary to examine the doubts in this way: a pot, as the subject, is the exclusion of others of mind that depends on things, because it is the exclusion of others of things. If you further ask: Why is it the exclusion of others of things? Because as the exclusion of others of its own character of meaning, the two of its own character of meaning and things are the same in meaning. Then, a pot, as the subject, you should be the exclusion of others of impermanence, because you are the exclusion of others of its own character of meaning, and the two of impermanence and its own character of meaning are the same in meaning. Universally accept this statement. If you admit it, then you are the exclusion of others. Furthermore, the general meaning of things, as the subject, is the exclusion of others of its own character of meaning, because it is the exclusion of others of things. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
