If one's own desires cannot be established, then meaningless statements become faults. If it is for establishing happiness, then it is not what is being discussed here. Third, summarizing the essence of these reasonings: summarizing and explaining the meaning of refuting the opponent's words; summarizing and explaining the meaning of hindering the reasoning; summarizing and explaining the meaning of answering to avoid faults. First, if in some texts of the Vaibhashika (གཟེགས་ཟན་, atom eaters) and others, some irrational views such as sound being eternal like space are explained, then other reasoners who explain sound as impermanent will also be refuted. This practice is like the laws of a bad lineage, where one irrational fault refutes other innocent ones. Therefore, if there is irrationality in some texts, then reasoners will be refuted, which is like the laws of a bad lineage. If there is irrationality in some texts, then reasoners will be refuted, which is like the laws of a bad lineage. This is because when the Vaisheshika (བྱེ་བྲག་པས་, particularists) argue that sound is impermanent, they use 'being produced' as a reason, which is what reasoners do. But the Vaisheshika's texts say that sound is permanent, which is refuted, so they are ridiculed like the laws of a bad lineage. Second, O Samkhya (གྲངས་ཅན་, enumerators), according to your view, the distinction between what is to be proven and what can prove will disappear on the substrate 'prakriti' (ཁྱད་གཞི་, particular base). Because on the substrate of sound, the characteristics of sound such as space, which are mentioned in the texts, are the same as 'being produced', which is considered the reason for proving that sound is impermanent. Therefore, if both permanence and impermanence must be proven on sound, then no opponent can state a valid reason that can prove both permanence and impermanence on sound. Therefore, if everything is considered the same, then a reason that can prove cannot be stated. Therefore, the distinction between what is to be proven and what can prove will disappear. This is because the former party (referring to the Vaisheshika) did not admit that 'being produced' in the Vaisheshika's texts can prove that sound is impermanent, but if they also admit that the characteristics of sound mentioned in the texts can prove that sound is impermanent, then they must also admit that 'being produced' can prove that sound is impermanent. This is the summary of hindering the reasoning. Furthermore, when the refuter (referring to the Vaisheshika) argues that sound is impermanent, if they present 'being produced' as a reason, then this reason will necessarily hinder the permanence of sound. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Therefore, in this arrangement, by reasoning, there is no such contradiction that harms the impermanence of sound. Because on one thing (such as sound), two contradictory attributes like permanence and impermanence cannot exist together. Or, even if the impermanence of sound harms permanence, the opposite is not true. When this is applied to the attribute being proven or the attribute to be proven, the argument is the same as before. It is not allowed for contradictions to exist on one thing, therefore contradictions are certain. In this case, there is no such contradiction. This is the former view, that the Vaisheshika arranges it this way. When the permanence of sound harms the time base (Namyon), then proving that sound is impermanent will also be harmed. This is a summary of the essence of the accepted damaging reasoning. Third, summarizing the essence of the reply that eliminates defects: The Samkhya says that the permanence and impermanence of sound are not mutually harmful, but when the Vaisheshika arranges it this way, proving that sound is impermanent through 'being made' will be harmed, because the debater himself accepts the meaning of the treatise. The explanation for this is: 'Even if they are not the harmer and the harmed, but for the sake of the meaning of the treatise, proving impermanence will be harmed,' which is one possibility. Similarly, even if there is no established connection between the permanence and impermanence of sound, but when the Vaisheshika arranges it this way, proving that sound is impermanent through 'being made' will be harmed, because he himself distorts the meaning of the accepted treatise. The explanation for this is: 'Even if there is no connection, it will be harmed'. To refute this, then listen. When the Vaisheshika arranges 'being made' to prove that sound is impermanent, merely by preventing the existence of all permanent attributes on sound, such as smell (the attribute of earth), taste (the attribute of water), etc., it will also harm proving the existence of all attributes such as impermanence and things on sound. Because from the perspective of preventing these attributes, distorting the meaning of one's own accepted treatise is the same. The argument, universality, and commitment have been established, and cannot be denied. The explanation for this is: 'Everything will harm everything'. This summarizes the essence of the reply to the defects of eliminating the reasoning that smell is the attribute of earth, etc., and the debater Vaisheshika promises that since he has accepted the treatise of the grain-eater, he must avoid harming the meaning explained in that treatise. This is a great abuse of the power of reasoning. To this, he says that proving the permanence of sound through 'being made'... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
