If there is one, it is because it is inferior by way of extension. As for the path of seeing, there is no distinction such as small, medium, etc., because it must have fifteen moments. As the 'Son of the Conquerors' says, from small to small, etc., are from top to top, but not the path of seeing, because it is impossible to have small to small, etc. Compared to this, the small of the small of the lower ground, from the medium of the small of the lower ground to the great of the great, depends on the similarity and difference of the moments, and by way of extension, it has equal characteristics, because each additional characteristic increases by way of extension. This commentary is also important because some say that all fifteen moments of the path of seeing are complete actions, so there are many final moments, and others say that there is only one set of nine uninterrupted paths in the path of meditation, which eliminates these wrong ideas. Fourth, regarding the analysis of doubts, it includes the analysis of doubts shown in the scriptures and the supplementation of what has not been explained. First, the wise say that the path of following faith is the co-equal cause of the six (following faith, following dharma, etc.), which is unreasonable, because the follower of faith, the dull-witted stream enterer, cannot become the co-equal cause of the follower of dharma, the sharp-witted stream enterer, because in his continuum, it is impossible for the follower of dharma, the sharp-witted stream enterer, to manifest. There is no fault, although it will not manifest in his continuum, this does not prevent it from being the co-equal cause of future arising, because as a dharma that does not arise in the future, it is the co-equal cause. In the self-commentary it says: 'Although it is impossible to have the path of following faith and the path of following dharma in one continuum, arising is the cause of the future.' The 'Son of the Conquerors' says: 'The path of following faith is the co-equal cause of the six.' If it is said, since this is the case, how can the path of following faith be the co-equal cause of the path of following dharma? These two will not manifest in one continuum. Therefore, it is said that although it is impossible to have the path of following faith and the path of following dharma in one continuum, arising is the cause of the future. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Non-existent' refers to things that have not manifested here. Therefore, if we identify the key essence, then the one who enters the stream of faith-following, if their foundation (referring to the five roots: faith, diligence, mindfulness, concentration, and wisdom) transforms from dull to sharp, then the path attained through seeing (referring to the stage of Stream-enterer), for both future arising and non-arising, serves as an equal cause. If their foundation does not transform, then the path attained through seeing is solely the equal cause for the non-arising dharma. Because the key to whether the path attained through seeing manifests in their continuum lies in this. If such a person, unable to transform on the foundation of learning, is certain to transform from a dull-witted Arhat to a sharp-witted Arhat, then their path, whether it is the path of liberation in time or liberation out of time, serves as an equal cause for both future arising and non-arising. Because both of these paths may manifest in their continuum. If this person is certain to enter nirvana without remainder on the foundation of a dull-witted Arhat, then both futures of liberation in time, and the non-arising dharma of liberation out of time, are solely the equal cause. Because the path of liberation in time may manifest in their continuum, while the other may not. However, the path of the faith-following stream-enterer serves as an equal cause for both futures of the path of faith-understanding. Because the path of faith-understanding will manifest in their continuum. This is because they have not transformed on the foundation of faith-following. Because it is said in the sutra: 'There is no transformation in seeing.' To this, Gyaltsab Rinpoche said: 'Therefore, the path that arises from faith-following is the equal cause for the non-arising dharma of dharma-following, and for the paths of faith-understanding, seeing-attainment, liberation in time, and liberation out of time, whether they are future arising or non-arising dharmas, for similar or different situations, each is an equal cause according to their respective circumstances.' Second, supplementing the doubts not explained in the scriptures: Wise ones, please listen! Then, are the paths of the nine uncontaminated grounds equal causes to each other? If not, don't you remember the statement 'The paths of the nine grounds are causes to each other'? If you say that doing so is inappropriate, then is the unobstructed path also the uncontaminated path of the fourth dhyana? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
