The homogenous immediate condition (mnyam pa de ma thag rkyen) arises from the proximate condition (rkyen las skye), because it arises in the preceding consciousness (shes pa) without interruption by another consciousness. The objective condition (dmigs rkyen) arises from the object, because it arises from various things such as the five objects (don lnga) and all phenomena (chos thams cad). The dominant condition (bdag rkyen) arises from conditioned phenomena ('du byas) other than its own nature (rang gi ngo bo), as it is said: 'The four are mind and mental factors (sems dang sems byung rnams).' Now, what needs to be examined here is: the future mind (yid) consciousness does not arise, as a phenomenon (chos can). Does it have a homogenous immediate condition? If not, it contradicts that it is consciousness. If it does, then it must arise from its own homogenous immediate condition. If you admit this, it contradicts the meaning of not arising. If it is not pervasive, then the consciousness that is its homogenous immediate condition must become the cause of arising, and it must act on its own result, which is the future result that will arise. Because it is a homogenous immediate condition. The reasoning is the same. Furthermore, the future six minds (drug yid) do not arise, as a phenomenon, does its objective condition exist or not? If it does not exist, it contradicts that it has an object. If it exists, then it must have an object. The reasoning is the second. Furthermore, the future six minds do not arise, as a phenomenon, the co-emergent mental factor (lhan cig 'byung rgyur thal) that corresponds to you must arise simultaneously with you, because you are the primary mind. If you admit this, then you and it must arise simultaneously. Because it acts on you and it simultaneously arising, because it is co-emergent with you. The reasoning is the third. Please consider how to answer. What arises from the causal condition (rkyen), the immediate condition (de ma thag pa'i rkyen), and the dominant condition (bdag po'i rkyen) is: the two unconscious absorptions (sems med kyi snyoms par 'jug pa), because these two absorptions have these three conditions, but do not have an objective condition, because they are not with an object. These two absorptions have a co-emergent cause (lhan cig 'byung rgyu) among the five causes (rkyen lnga), because their own four, such as arising, are. They have an equipotential cause (skal mnyam gyi rgyu), because the previous virtues of the same nature are. They do not have three causes: the pervasive cause (kun 'gro), the corresponding cause (mtshungs ldan), and the resultant cause (rnam smin gyi rgyu), because they are not afflictive, not consciousness, and not the result of maturation, respectively. Although these two absorptions are not consciousness, they have a homogenous immediate condition, because the preceding mind (snyoms 'jug kha ma'i sems) of these two absorptions is, because they arise from the manifestation of the mind (sems kyi mngon par 'du byed pa). These two absorptions --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is explained that 'it arises from the dominant cause, because there is a dominant cause.' To explain with three, namely, two samādhis. 1-930 Apart from these two mindless samādhis, non-associated formations and form necessarily arise from their own co-emergent cause and dominant cause, because they necessarily possess these two causes and lack the other two causes. It is explained that 'others arise from both.' Second, regarding the incidental meaning, there are two: the incidental meaning explained here and the incidental meaning explained in the fourth place. First, these animate and inanimate things arise from the conditions of the six causes and four conditions mentioned above, as appropriate, but not from Īśvara (自在天) and the chief (主宰者), because if they arose from them, they would have to arise simultaneously, but these animate and inanimate things arise sequentially. It is explained that 'Īśvara etc. are not the cause because of sequence etc.' Moreover, inferring from 'others arise from both,' for non-associated formations and form that are not two samādhis, among the four conditions, since there are no immediate condition and objective condition, it is explained that they arise from the dominant cause and the co-emergent cause. If it is thought that the primary elements and the derived elements of form easily become the dominant cause to each other, then how do they become the co-emergent cause? 1-931 Regarding this, there are four: how the elements produce the elements, how the elements produce the derived, how the derived produce the derived, and how the derived produce the elements. First, the elements act as two kinds of co-emergent causes for the elements: the previous elements act as the homogenous cause for the subsequent elements, and the four elements act as co-emergent causes to each other. It is explained that 'the cause of that, the elements, are of two kinds.' The elements do not act as pervasive cause, equipotential cause, and maturation cause, because they are not afflicted, are not consciousness, and are not the cause of maturation. Second, the elements do not act as the co-emergent condition for the derived, because it is impossible for the elements to act as each of the five co-emergent causes for the derived. Therefore, the elements only act as the dominant cause for the derived, and the way they act as the dominant cause is fivefold, namely, the cause of production, the cause of dependence, the cause of abiding. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
