Since the biography is definitive, knowledgeable people will undoubtedly be amazed. As it is said: "Summon well with the beckoning of generosity, entice greatly with pleasing speech, subdue with meaningful actions, and thereby establish a great agreement that is consistent in meaning." As it is said, by means of the four objects of gathering, through the power of steadfast habituation over eons to the methods by which disciples are made to desire, Bodhisattvas take such excellent activities as their own. To all, high and low, they give lavish gifts of material possessions without stinginess, thereby generating joy and satisfaction. To inferior beings, even birds and dogs, and to the poor and destitute, they generously bestow food, clothing, and other necessities, thereby closely accomplishing benefit for their bodies and minds. Even giving pleasant and agreeable words generates joy in the minds of others. In short, by opening the door of generosity, like a vast treasury of the sky, without ever closing it, they accumulate a great collection of merit, spreading out a heap of jewels, thereby destroying all the poverty of existence and peace in an instant. The eighth root chapter: The manner in which, after the completion of activities, the mandala of emanation is gathered into the sphere of Dharma. The great omniscient and all-seeing Lord Lama, initially relied upon many pure spiritual guides, and having thoroughly listened to and contemplated all the common fields of knowledge and especially the doctrines of Sutra and Tantra without partiality, he became a great ocean of Dharma. In the middle, not merely remaining at the level of listening, but integrating the meaning of what was heard into his mind through meditation and practice, he fully practiced both new and old Mantras, thereby awakening the residue of previous habituation and perfecting the qualities of the grounds and paths. Finally, by the power of aspiration and compassion, he poured down a great torrent of nectar of beneficial and blissful activity for all impartial teachings and all beings, high, low, and intermediate. In particular, the great Sakya master said: "Instructing in accordance with scripture and reason." As it is said, in accordance with the scriptures, treatises, and disciplines that are the standard of measurement, in accordance with the reason that accords with sound, measurement, and reality, and in accordance with the instructions that do not contradict the profound nature of Dharma, he leads countless fortunate beings of high and low capacity to the path of liberation and omniscience, and so on.
