Arrogance, not sincerely believing in and respecting the teacher and the Dharma from the bottom of one's heart, not having a strong desire for the Dharma and the path, the mind always wandering outwards, or being too withdrawn into the six senses, so that one cannot understand the words and meanings being spoken, and these six situations of being troubled by fatigue and weariness should also be abandoned. The thirty-six faults are: the six actions of demons as mentioned in the "Sutra of the Complete Array of Merits," the six actions of obscuration as mentioned in the "Sutra of Questions by Ocean of Intelligence," the six causes of abandoning the Dharma, the six faults of distraction, the six faults of perversion as mentioned in the "Sutra of Protecting the Country," and the six faults of deviating from the Great Vehicle as mentioned in the "Sutra of the Miraculous Manifestation of Manjushri," all of these should be completely eliminated. One should listen to the Dharma with the thirty-six qualities. That is, as mentioned in the "Sutra of Questions by Good Arms": regard the Dharma-speaking teacher as a treasure trove of jewels, regard the Dharma as a wish-fulfilling jewel, regard listening to the Dharma as extremely rare, regard upholding and thinking about the Dharma as a meaningful and precious thing, regard distinguishing the Dharma as something difficult to encounter in hundreds of lifetimes, and regard abandoning the search for the Dharma as abandoning nectar and taking poison. One should rely on the desire to listen and think about the Dharma so that it can bring benefits. These are the six cherished desires as mentioned. In addition, there are the six difficult tolerances mentioned in that sutra, the six that are not moved by conditions, the six distinctions of what is specially done, and the six accomplishments of what is needed as mentioned in the "Sutra of Questions by Light Protector," and the six searches mentioned in the "Avatamsaka Sutra," possessing these to listen well. Regarding the behavior of listening to the Dharma, as mentioned in the "Sutra of the Excellent Birth of a Man": Sit on a low seat, Generate the splendor of gentleness, Look with joyful eyes, Words are like drinking nectar. With clear and stainless wisdom, Like a patient listening to the words of a good doctor. Attend with reverence and listen to the Dharma. The meaning of what is said should be practiced accordingly, and in your heart, visualize this realm where we dwell as the basis that possesses the adornments, arrangements, and immeasurable merits of all Buddha realms. This dwelling is not an ordinary place, but space...

In the center of the great palace of liberation, splendidly adorned with the wealth of precious heart, the immeasurable mansion accomplished from the self-appearance of wisdom, with all the qualities of measure and construction fully perfected. The master who relies on the vajra throne, on the pistil of the lotus king, whose essence is the union of all the compassion and activity of the Buddhas of the three times, is the very embodiment of the wisdom illusion net. Merely hearing his name liberates one from samsara and the lower realms, possessing such activity. He is the sole glorious protector of existence and peace. As for the aspect of taming:

It says in the scriptures: Sit on a low seat, Cultivate the glory of gentleness, Look with joyful eyes, Words are like drinking nectar. With a clear and immaculate mind, Like a sick person listening to the doctor's words, Cultivate respect and listen to the Dharma. As it is said, not trusting in the words and meaning of the Dharma is a fault like an overturned vessel; even if you trust, not holding it with mindfulness and awareness is a fault like a vessel with a hole in the bottom; even if you hold it with mindfulness and awareness, as it says in the Ornament of Reasoning: Arrogance and distrust, And not seeking meaning, External distractions gathered inward, Listening with weariness is a stain. Any of the six stains mentioned is a fault of a stained vessel. Abandon the three faults of the vessel, and as their antidote, regard yourself as a patient, the Dharma speaker as a doctor, the Dharma as medicine, and diligent practice as the understanding of healing the disease, that is, abide in mindfulness with the four understandings. In particular, in the center of a pure realm, in the center of the great liberation palace that is accomplished from the self-appearance of wisdom that is neither appearance nor emptiness, complete with all measures and characteristics. Now, the Vajra Master who teaches the Dharma is also not an ordinary appearance, but in terms of the Great Compassion's Red Guidance, it seems to be the embodiment of the Great Compassion wisdom of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the three times, the actual Noble Avalokiteśvara himself. And you yourselves, with the pride of any of the remaining deities of the session break, the sound of the Dharma proclaims the sound-empty and unborn, thinking that it has the sound that eliminates all the decline of samsara and nirvana, in the state of clear-empty non-grasping, please listen in a non-distracted manner. So, what is the Dharma to be listened to here? As for the scriptures, this much is enough. As for the instructions, in terms of the Red Guidance Tshembu style, from the profound instructions for accomplishing the state of the Protector of the Snowy Land, Noble Avalokiteśvara, like an ocean, among the profound and easy-to-carry Red Guidance, the order of the profound instructions transmitted from the accomplished master Gnyan Tshembu pa, the four or six kinds of Red Guidance, will be explained.
