In the Sutra Requested by the Son of No Greed, it says: "Son of lineage, if you possess learning, wisdom will arise. If you possess wisdom, afflictions will be pacified. When afflictions are completely pacified, demons cannot find an opportunity." Also, in the Nirvana Sutra, it says: "Listening to the Dharma gives rise to faith. With faith, one aspires to the six perfections, quickly attains enlightenment, and achieves Buddhahood. Therefore, obtaining all virtuous Dharmas arises from the cause of listening." Thus, the meaning of countless precious scriptures has been summarized. Longchenpa said: "Wisdom and Samadhi, as well as the continuity of Dharma such as Dharani, and the eye that knows what to accept and reject, and the increase of virtue and decrease of non-virtue, and being praised by the world including gods, and the elimination of desire and the darkness of ignorance, and being reborn by transformation in the lotus of a pure land after death, and hearing the Dharma from the emanation of the supreme Buddha, and quickly becoming a Buddha and turning the supreme wheel of Dharma, etc., there are countless doors of benefits." As it is said, let alone listening to the Dharma with faith, even hearing the sound of musical instruments that gather listeners can liberate one from Samsara. In the Ghaṇṭā Sutra, it says: "To indicate the time for expounding the true Dharma, the sound of beating the drum or Ghaṇṭā, hearing it will attain Bodhi, let alone coming to listen to the Dharma." In short, whether beings have a path to liberation or not depends on whether the Buddha's teachings abide or not. The root of the precious teachings of the Buddha abiding is only in the exposition and study of the Dharma. Therefore, those who desire well-being should regard the exposition and study of the Dharma as an important task for the sake of their own vast path to liberation and the long-lasting abiding of the teachings. Nowadays, most of those who are known as great Dharma holders are seen to be fond of speaking, and no ascetics who observe silence are seen. Most of the speaking is about buying and selling, fighting, law, jokes, and local history, etc., spending their lives with expositions and studies of greed, hatred, and unpredicted things. All of these will not have the slightest meaning, but will instead become the cause of accumulating a heap of sins. Even the merit of expounding and listening to just a four-line verse of the sacred Dharma,

What need is there to mention that it is the sole cause of benefit and happiness until the ultimate end? Because it also possesses many great benefits, both temporary and long-term, if one speaks of it, one will become a Dharma-speaking spiritual friend, and will not become a culprit of wrong speech. One should take it as one's Yidam from life to life. The treasure that removes permanent poverty, there is nothing better than the supreme Dharma in the world. The one who possesses it is the eye of the three realms. It is better to give up one's life than to give up the Dharma. The Dharma protectors, together with their sons, regard it as their only child. To beings who have fallen into the darkness of the five paths, the eye of the Dharma shows the good path. Whoever possesses this supreme lamp is the second guide of the world. Striving to light the lamp of the Dharma, which is close to decay, is even more rare than the three turnings of the wheel, it is the fourth wheel. Nourishing beings with the nectar of the Dharma, eliminating chronic diseases with the medicine of peace and coolness. True speech is the earth, which gives rise to samsara and nirvana. Among knowable things, there is nothing more supreme than the Dharma. Protecting this Dharma, possessing this Dharma, reading this Dharma, contemplating the meaning of this Dharma, may all rebirths attain supreme attainment, and become the Dharma holders and universal monarchs of all the Tathagata Buddhas. This was also written in Palpung's solitary place, Kunzang Dechen Ösal Ling, by Karma Ngawang Yonten Gyatso or Lodrö Thaye, in order to uphold the treasure of scriptural and realization Dharma without weariness, and to follow the instructions of Khenchen Lama Karma Ngedön Tenpa Rabgye. May virtue and excellence increase!
