How can one engage in various activities if not illuminated by the light of the moon? If not protected by the glorious merit of the holy ones, how can one transcend the bonds of worldly karma? Among ordinary people, one might find the best land, or even gold from the land. But nowadays, among people, it is even rarer to be enriched by the wealth of wisdom. Even if one possesses fearless intelligence, if one is not disciplined by taming one's own mind, It is like wealth guarded by a venomous snake hidden in a hole; even if desired, who can take it? Even if learned, do not be arrogant; even if famous, do not be conceited. You are the offering pillar of the Garuda of the sky, illuminating the complete teachings. May you live long, for you can accomplish great deeds in the world. By the steadfastness of samadhi, sever the workings of the life force, May the unwavering, clear tilaka (藏文:ཏི་ལ་ཀ,梵文天城体:तिलक,梵文罗马拟音:tilaka,汉语字面意思:forehead mark) be the latch. From the equalized absorption of nada (藏文:ནཱ་ད,梵文天城体:नाद,梵文罗马拟音:nāda,汉语字面意思:sound), obtain indestructible bliss, May you sing the irreversible melody. Seemingly friendly long-term bonds, each change vanishes like ashes. We are Dharma brothers with excellent Dharma connections, From the depths of our hearts, comprehend all profound and clear truths, May you, with a joyful, nourishing smile of meaning, With impartial, captivating teachings, Constantly fill the chariot of hope with showers of nectar. Thus I pray, offering the symbolic gestures of glancing eyes, the radiant support of the deities. Offering the undeniable image of the Buddha, silk brocades, fine garments, and double-layered animal skins, from the solitary retreat of Palpung, on an auspicious day of the white waxing moon. This was written by Amchok Geshe Chenpo at the request of Guru Padmasambhava. This is the elegance of the style called "Lanpa" in the distinctions of verbal composition. The words of the unity of samsara and nirvana, Liberated from the two extremes, the light free from conceptual constructs, May the friend of the sun, who brings joy, protect. Illuminating the darkness of bondage with the light of scripture, With the blossoming of the lotus of the path of knowledge, May the spring glory of the Mahayana teachings flourish. Before that eloquent sun of a spiritual friend, From the ranks of those proficient in the Buddha's teachings through the three trainings, With the courage to bear great burdens, I offer the pleasing words like a lotus, as an ornament for the ears of the learned. May you possess the wisdom to discern the Dharma, And the pure deeds of virtue.
