To bring joy to you, wise one, I say this: For a long time, from churning the ocean of good deeds, A wise and virtuous one who opens the lotus garden of the Victorious One's teachings, A sun blazing with hundreds and thousands of rays, Now appears in the sky of beings' merit. Without guidance, wandering on the wrong path, Without being persuaded, not enduring many sufferings, The image of hundreds of unwritten faults appears, In this unbearable time of the five degenerations. Born with the blessing of the Naga King, The wise and virtuous one's qualities are unchanging, A wise master who can quell disturbing actions, A Kataka (Sanskrit: Kataka, clearing-nut) has appeared in the region of Do-mé (Amdo). The sound of the Sumtsen drum has been sounded, For those whose eyes are closed by the sleep of laziness, You will rekindle in Lower Do-Kham (Southern Dokham), The embers of the definitive teachings that are nearly extinguished. To deeply understand the irreversible truth, Proclaiming the essence of permanence with the roar of a lion. For speaking, debating, and writing, with unobstructed wisdom, Wise one, you have become a wonder beyond all wonders. Here, all of us, the three realms bound by attachment, The illusory body of fleeting life is happy, for the teachings and beings, With the subtle strength of entering with altruistic intention, The flowers are ashamed and smile, I think. Greetings! In the future, like a vajra, indestructible for hundreds of kalpas, Living long and taking on the great burden of ultimately benefiting, The teachings and beings with definitive meaning, Resolve to take it on without weariness. Until then, do not abandon with affection, I sincerely implore you. Along with divine offerings, from Palpung Monastery, On an auspicious day of the Dawa month (Tibetan fifth month), offered in the name of a tulku. The face that enters the four liberations, The thick hair of definitive view, Adorned by the swan of the three trainings, Before the guide, the one with the golden womb, In that joyful land, Even if wisdom and physical strength are not complete, I am happy to beat the clay drum of poetic throat at will. Your body follows Mount Meru, adorned with new reddish clouds, supremely beautiful. Your speech fulfills all aspects of melodious sound that benefits beings, explaining the ultimate meaning. In order to guide many beings into the realm of self-realization, with the roar of a lion, one is happy to universally instruct, the fearless sacred behavior is truly wonderful. Here, praying for the well-being of the teachings and sentient beings, the holder, at the time of the aggregation of life, strives for hearing, thinking, and meditating for harmlessness and permanent happiness. Offering words of retreat. In the future, may your life span continue for hundreds of kalpas, propagating the teachings like the essence of nourishing life. May your compassionate heart here emerge like the continuous flow of the Ganges. This letter of request, accompanied by sacred offerings, on the waxing moon of the fourth Tibetan month, was offered by the emanation named "Dusum Pa" from Palpung Definitive Meaning Dharma Academy.
