Ah, my own mind! Not a speck comes from elsewhere. Pleasure and pain, good and bad, high and low, etc., All are the fabrications of the mind. If your own mind is pure, you are a Buddha, Wherever you stay is a pure land. Whatever you do is the nature of reality, The adornment of pure appearances and the play of wisdom. If your own mind is not pure, Even a Buddha is seen as flawed. Anger arises even towards your parents, Most appearances rise as enemies. Hope and fear, attachment and hatred are continuous, Years are not listened to, life is wasted. No matter who you associate with, you cannot agree, Wherever you stay, there is no happiness. No matter how much you have, you do not know contentment, When one thing is satisfied, another is needed. Distracted, distracted by the appearances of this life, Even when the thought of practicing Dharma comes to mind, Life is wasted in the state of "doing it now." When genuine renunciation has not arisen, You cling tightly to everything, Becoming miserly even with a needle. When new devotion arises, You do not think of anyone other than the lama, After a long time, wrong views arise. In the time of new faith, You do one virtuous act and have no time for another, Growing old, everything fades into space. The way to protect, as the bodhisattva Shantideva said: "For those who wish to protect their minds, Mindfulness and awareness are necessary, Even for the sake of life, protect them." I also join my palms in this way, As he said, strive to practice. When you can tame your own mind, You do not need to seek solitude elsewhere. If there is no conceptual thought, it is solitude. You do not need to seek a lama elsewhere, The nature of mind itself is the lama, the Buddha. You do not need to worry about physical exertion in virtuous activity, Undistracted virtuous activity is the essence. You do not need to deliberately abandon distraction, If you rely on mindfulness and awareness, it is self-liberation. You do not need to be afraid of the arising of afflictions, If you recognize your own face, it is wisdom. From this single moment of your own mind, Samsara and nirvana are not established elsewhere, Therefore, always guard your mind. If you do not tame your own mind within, External enemies are endless. If you tame the anger within, All enemies on earth are pacified. If contentment does not arise in the mind, Even if you have all desires, you are like a beggar. A person with renunciation and contentment, Although without possessions, is always rich. When worldly affairs are successful, And Dharma and virtue are accomplished, When joy arises in the mind, That habitual tendency gives birth to higher realms, But that too is impermanent samsara. When you look at the nature of joy, You see emptiness.

That comes from liberation. When Dharma and worldly affairs, non-virtue and suffering arise, and when following afflictions and thoughts such as anger, hatred, and desire, it is the cause of being born in the three lower realms. The suffering of being born there is inconceivable. Whatever affliction or suffering arises, by looking at its own nature, it vanishes into emptiness. There is no wisdom apart from that. Since one's own mind is inseparable from oneself, it is crucial to always protect one's own mind. All Dharmas are included in protecting the mind. When finding a new friend, cherish their body and life more than your own. The new friend vanishes and rises as an enemy. Therefore, all appearances of the six senses are the magical manifestations of the one mind itself. If you accept or reject, then you, the wise one, are mistaken.
