Without thinking of carrying away. May all sentient beings, parents of the three realms, be protected in such a way if there is refuge. May they be protected by such protection. May they abandon the perverted refuge. May they enter the right path. May they receive the blessings of the precious Lama. Although there are vast and numerous scriptures, their meaning is solely the practice of taking refuge. If you strive, strive in this way. Strive to the end. Under the protection of the Lama and the Three Jewels, even if the six realms of beings have not been liberated, may they find permanent peace and rest. Auspicious! Homage to the Lord of Compassion, who has no object of focus, the master of the lotus and the sun. May all the six realms of beings, parents equal to space, generate the supreme Bodhicitta in their minds, and may they be blessed to attain enlightenment. This generation of the mind of emptiness, the basis, is the sun that dispels ignorance. This generation of the mind of the path, which is without characteristics, is the axe that cuts through dualistic clinging. This generation of the mind of the result, which is without aspiration, is the stream of water that cuts off hope and fear. This generation of the mind that is without abandonment or acceptance is the sword that cuts through bonds. This generation of the mind that is without partiality is the vow that is free from inner and outer. This generation of the mind that is without enemies or friends is the wisdom mantra that destroys the eight worldly concerns. This generation of the mind that is decisive in renunciation is the asceticism that cuts through the vital points. This generation of the mind that abandons self-interest is the supreme medicine that alleviates suffering. This generation of the mind that is free from astrological influences is the broom that sweeps away sins and obscurations. This generation of the mind of equality is the wish-fulfilling jewel that fulfills all desires. This generation of the mind that is without focus is the treasure door from which benefit for others arises. In general, everything, everything is Bodhicitta. The essence of Bodhicitta is emptiness. Everything, everything is emptiness. The essence of emptiness is compassion. Father Lama, Buddhas of the three times, and the countless peaceful and wrathful deities, as well as mother, all sentient beings of the three realms, are the self-display of Bodhicitta. It is also the natural form of thought. It is also the natural radiance of the innate. The root of all Dharmas is Bodhicitta. If one is controlled by Bodhicitta, then most non-virtue turns into virtue, like the sun rising in the sky. Even if there are clouds, it is still clear and not

Clarity. If one does not possess the mind of enlightenment, even virtue turns into non-virtue. Like a tree with rotten roots, it falls even when cut, and falls again even when propped up. If one possesses the mind of enlightenment, whatever actions are done are within emptiness and compassion. Like a universal monarch, whatever is done is naturally perfect. If one does not generate faith in the law of cause and effect, and does not train the mind of enlightenment, even if the mind is directed towards emptiness, one cannot uproot the three obscurations, like sentient beings trapped in darkness. If one does not eliminate the accumulation of negativity with oneself, there is no remembrance or non-remembrance of the outer sky. In general, there are many who practice Dharma, but few with bodhicitta. There are many who generate the mind, but few who practice. There are many who practice, but few who hit the essential point. From beginningless time, although countless accumulations of merit have been gathered, they have not been grasped by the essential point of bodhicitta, nor have they been sealed by dedication without object, so only a small amount of temporary happiness and wealth of gods, Brahma, Indra, universal monarchs, etc., has been obtained, and the state of ultimate bliss has not been attained. Whether or not this is the case, ask all the tantras. Obtaining the leisure and endowment of a human body is also the result of accumulating merit, but in this temporary state like a bamboo snake, one takes and rejects with evil thoughts. Whether or not this is the case, look to the noble ones. Now, may I and all sentient beings of the six realms first encounter the Dharma. May we meet a qualified lama. May we be taken care of with compassion. After that, without fearing death, may we generate realization in both skillful means and wisdom. May we master emptiness and compassion. May the root of bodhicitta be planted firmly. May the trunk of the perfections be stable. May the branches of the four means of attraction flourish. May flowers of happiness and well-being bloom. May the fruit of the three bodies ripen. From this time until the essence of enlightenment, may the mind of enlightenment not degenerate due to obstacles such as forgetfulness. On the ground of bodhicitta, the sugata-garbha, may the path be practiced with compassion and the mind of enlightenment, and may the fruit, the self-nature of bodhicitta, ripen. May the two benefits be spontaneously accomplished. May the one whose name is the lotus, the self-nature of great compassion, bless us to accomplish our wishes. This was written at the age of twenty-four in the Palpung Meditation Retreat Center, Samten Ling, during the accumulation of a hundred thousand preliminary practices of Mahamudra, as a refuge and generation of the mind.
