If one can accept samsara, then the mind of enlightenment is generated. If one does not specifically seek nirvana, then the mind of enlightenment is generated. If there is nothing one does not want to abandon, then the mind of enlightenment is generated. If there is no self-serving purpose to be accomplished, then the mind of enlightenment is generated. If one can give one's own happiness to others, then the mind of enlightenment is generated. If one can take on the suffering of others oneself, then the mind of enlightenment is generated. If there is no laziness and partiality, then the mind of enlightenment is generated. If one knows all beings as one's parents, then the mind of enlightenment is generated. If one is free from the arrogance of "I did it," then the mind of enlightenment is generated. All these present and ultimate happinesses arise only from the precious mind of enlightenment. The qualities of the mind of enlightenment are immeasurable and countless. If one does not seek the path to Buddhahood, then that is the end of it. If one seeks and desires the fruit of Buddhahood, then just as seeds and water are like fertilizer for desiring crops, this precious mind of enlightenment is like that, so do not be separated from it until the breath reaches the end of life. Many profound teachings that do not fit the lineage will deceive you. A single sturdy horse can cross a raging river. A single, vast practice will carry you to the state of Buddhahood. Compassion without cutting the root of self-grasping is also a one-sided deviation. May the wisdom that realizes selflessness arise in the mindstream. For that, the method of thorough investigation is proficient. Possessing the wisdom of blessing and the foundation of stabilizing meditation, one can easily cut the root of existence. Even through analysis, the clinging to reality is slightly destroyed, but until wisdom penetrates the heart, one will not see the naked face of reality, so do not boast of engaging in correct meditation in the empty wanderings of conceptual thought. Wisdom will naturally arise from blessing, and blessing arises from devotion, so devotion is: the footprints of the ocean of Kagyu accomplished ones, the essence of the secret mantra path, the practice of faithful yogis, especially the treasure of the Naro Kagyu, so treasure the devotion to the guru as a treasury of practice! Teach others in the same way! The sixth instruction. Devotion causes realization to arise naturally. Devotion causes

Awareness awakens in the heart's core. With devotion, see self-awareness as Dharmakaya. With devotion, see phenomenal existence as the Guru. With devotion, delusion forcibly ceases. With devotion, wind-mind enters the central channel. With devotion, appearance and mind blend into one taste. With devotion, sins and downfalls are naturally purified. With devotion, know appearances and sounds as deities and mantras. With devotion, all non-Dharma thoughts subside. With devotion, all obstacles and wrong paths are liberated. With devotion, traverse the path swiftly and blissfully. With devotion, knowing one liberates all. Irreversible, like the fire at the end of time, to whom should such devotion be directed? It should be directed to the Guru. May the stream of the Guru's realization never cease, May the tradition of experience and realization never fade, May the victory banner of practice never be lowered, May it not be tainted by the impurities of broken vows, May the interfering evil spirits not enter, May it not be carried away by the winds of distraction, It should be directed to one who does not confuse Dharma with personal matters. Since faults are bound to appear in the vessel of an ordinary being, it is crucial not to dwell on the Guru's faults. If doubt enters regarding the Guru and mantra, not only will the fruit of accomplishment not arise, but one will also accumulate a great mass of negative karma, leading to lower realms. Thus, from the force of devotion, the spontaneously arising wisdom dawns; guarding it without laxity through mindfulness and awareness is the essence of all instructions. Always strive in the yoga of mindfulness and awareness. Also, instruct others in this way. This is the seventh instruction. For one with mindfulness, unwholesome actions will not arise. For one with mindfulness, faults and downfalls will not arise. For one with mindfulness, unexamined actions will not arise. For one with mindfulness, one will not be deceived by the trickery of others. For one with mindfulness, one will not be interrupted by demonic forces. For one with mindfulness, spirits will not find an opening, and misfortune will not strike. For one with mindfulness, the gap of distraction and confusion will not enter. For one with mindfulness, the lamp of experience will blaze. For one with mindfulness, the ocean of Shamatha will gather. For one with mindfulness, the sun of realization will rise. For one with mindfulness, the waxing moon of qualities will increase. Whatever is cultivated with such mindfulness is the cultivation of the nature of one's own mind. From the mind, Buddhas arise; Dharmakaya dawns from within; a jewel is found in the palm of one's hand.
