Just as the appearance of a Buddha in the world is a rare and precious event, all beings, including gods, nagas, and humans, should offer and serve with all their possessions, accumulating merit and increasing virtue through various means. Such reasons and necessities are extensively explained in all sutras and tantras. As stated in the "Sutra of the Powerful River": "At the end of the five hundred, I will come in the form of a teacher. You should think of him as me, and at that time, generate respect for him." Here, it is said that at the end of the five hundred, the fully enlightened Buddha will manifest as a spiritual friend, not just once. Virupa, who possesses power, strength, and freedom, said: "The guru and Vajrasattva should not be regarded as different. The guru is the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. Those who desire supreme accomplishments should please the guru in every way. All Buddhas are Vajradhara. In this time of strife, for my benefit, he manifests in accordance with everyone. Knowing this, with all things, serve the Buddhas of the three times, and you will obtain the great bliss of accomplishment." Here, it is said that the guru is the root of the collection of the Three Jewels. Offering to the guru is also the most excellent way to accumulate merit. As stated in the "Vajra Heart Ornament Tantra": "Therefore, with all means, please the supreme Vajra Holder, the guru, by acting in accordance with him. Pleasing him pleases all the Buddhas." A fragment from the "Kalachakra Root Tantra" states: "In all three times of kalpas, offering to the Three Jewels and saving the lives of billions of beings will not lead to enlightenment in this life. However, pleasing the guru, who is like an ocean of qualities, with pure faith, the supreme and common accomplishments will definitely be obtained in this very life." The "Guhyasamaja Five Stages" states: "All offerings can be abandoned; one should make true offerings to the guru. By his pleasure, one will obtain the supreme state of omniscience. By offering to the Vajrasattva, the teacher of the unsurpassed path, what merit has he not made? What austerities has he not practiced?" Thus it is said. Also, in the "Fifty Verses on the Guru"

Always offer to the Guru, who is no different from all Buddhas. With unbearable desire, whatever is slightly pleasing, Even things that are extremely special, offer them to the Guru. Offering in this way constantly becomes an offering to all Buddhas. Such offering is the accumulation of merit, from which the supreme accomplishment arises. As stated in countless scriptures, one should always serve and honor the glorious Guru Vajradhara in every way. This is not only the best way to accumulate merit and purify obscurations, but also, in the present context, it is related to a special need as mentioned above. Therefore, one should engage in activities of merit. This much has briefly described the purpose and distinction of initiating the topic. Third, to establish the meaning of the occasion, the objects of offering are continuously stated, divided into three parts: generally speaking about the activities of the two accumulations; specifically explaining the ritual of offering during the great Dharma seat ceremony; and specially distinguishing the essential meaning of the occasion when offering the realm. First, the accumulations to be accomplished by the Bodhisattvas are generally summarized by merit and wisdom. The Ornament of Sutras states: The accumulations of Bodhisattvas, merit and wisdom, are unparalleled. One causes manifest increase in samsara, the other causes turning in freedom from afflictions. Generosity and discipline are the accumulations of merit, wisdom is the accumulation of wisdom, The other three are of both natures, all five are the accumulations of wisdom. After constantly practicing and attaining, one should also repeatedly accomplish virtuous deeds, Whatever is the accumulation of the teachings, it also accomplishes all purposes. As it is said, the six perfections, which are the nature of the two accumulations, pervade all accumulation and purification. Therefore, here too, the Dharma practice, which is mainly the seven branches, and all virtuous deeds, are taken to heart as a means to please the glorious Guru, the embodiment of all Buddhas. Not only is the accumulation of the nature of the six perfections, which is encompassed by the two accumulations, spontaneously accomplished, but also the activities accomplished with pure intention have great benefits and necessities even in subtle differences, for example, cleaning the house.
