Clarity and emptiness. Training based on not discriminating the nature of reality. First, with the seven-point posture, visualize your own body in the center of a vast, unobstructed space, with the central channel like a medium-sized arrow shaft, white on the outside and red on the inside, clear and empty, its upper end reaching the Brahma aperture and its lower end straight down four fingers below the navel. Having visualized this clearly, at the upper end visualize the white syllable ཧཾ་ (Tibetan: ཧཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हं, Sanskrit Romanization: haṃ, literal meaning: Hum) of the nature of skillful means, its head pointing downwards, about to settle into a state of bliss. At the lower end, visualize the red syllable ཨ་ (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, literal meaning: Ah) of the nature of wisdom, its head pointing upwards, about to blaze. Having visualized this clearly, visualize three breaths. Then, slowly inhale the upper air and contract the lower air, causing the fire of fierce heat to arise from the syllable ཨ་ (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, literal meaning: Ah), possessing four qualities, blazing upwards, flashing red through the hollow of the central channel. When it touches the syllable ཧྃ་ (Tibetan: ཧྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हं, Sanskrit Romanization: haṃ, literal meaning: Hum) at the crown of the head, the stream of bliss of bodhicitta descends like oil moistening the roots, and the fire blazes even more intensely from the syllable ཨ་ (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, literal meaning: Ah) at the navel. Visualize the essence of the moon melting into nectar, filling the central channel and the four chakras within the body, giving rise to the wisdom of bliss and warmth. Without focusing awareness on ཨ་ཧཾ་ (Tibetan: ཨ་ཧཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अहं, Sanskrit Romanization: ahaṃ, literal meaning: Ah Hum), hold the mind on a clear and radiant white syllable ཨ་ (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, literal meaning: Ah) in the heart, and bind it in vase breathing. If you cannot do that, take small breaths and compress. Then, exhale with a long, forceful breath. Strive in this way to accomplish any of the three types of vase breathing, large, medium, or small. Until you are accustomed to it, do not make the breath too strong, but hold it gently and moderately. When you are accustomed to it, the wisdom of emptiness, the wisdom of skillful means through bliss, will arise. Second, exhale a long, separate breath from both nostrils. Focus the mind on visualizing all appearances of the six aggregates dissolving into the nature of space, turning bluish-green, and then suppress the breath. Then, slowly inhale the breath, drawing in through the nostrils that which has become the nature of space, and visualize it abiding in the navel as bluish-green, and bind it in vase breathing. Furthermore, if the body is predominantly hot, contemplate the breath as being of a cool nature; if it is predominantly cold, contemplate the sensation as being of a warm nature. It is said that if you diligently practice such vase breathing with four qualities, and you do not become tired even after holding the breath for a long time, it is a sign of familiarity.
