It's just a formality. The so-called "South Gate" refers to the place where Yama, the Lord of Death, resides in the south, and it is said to be named because he controls life and so on. The memorial tablet should also be written according to the image or the name of saffron, and as stated in the heart essence transmission. The letter ནྲྀ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal meaning in Chinese) and umbrellas, etc., do not appear in the tantras and Indian treatises of the New Translation School, but in the oral instructions of the Old Translation School. Drawing a white lotus on the base of the tablet, a white eight-spoked wheel on the lotus, and a moon disc in the center of the wheel is the view of the Indian treatises. First, transform yourself into Karma Vajrasattva, generate the mandala in front, at the south gate on the lion throne, on the aforementioned seat, from the letter ནྲྀ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal meaning in Chinese) generate the image of the deceased or living person, making it radiant. Remember the power of the truth of the Three Jewels, and make the iron hook mudra. From the hearts of all the deities, emanate countless iron hook-shaped rays of light. Hook the consciousness of the deceased, in the form of a red spark or a windless candle, enter from the crown of the head, dissolve into the heart, visualize the deceased actually appearing, and seal the three places (body, speech, and mind) with Oṃ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal meaning in Chinese), Āḥ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal meaning in Chinese), Hūṃ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal meaning in Chinese). Here, the hand gesture for summoning consciousness is: As stated in the "Condensed Version": "Make the secret iron hook mudra, extend the end forward, place it on the head of the deceased, then life can be regained." According to this, make the Vajra inner binding mudra, extend the two index fingers, slightly bend the tips into a hook shape, join and extend the two little fingers, and place them on the head of the corpse or tablet, as stated by Buton and Chokyi Gyatso in the "Great Collection Sutra". However, since the ritual text of the Eighth Je is very brief and not explained in detail, the practice of commonly using arbitrary mantra summoning mudras has become a custom here, but it seems particularly important to proceed in this way if possible. Through the mantra and mudra of confessing downfalls, summon all the three lower realms to the periphery of the mandala. During the mantra and mudra section for eliminating sins, visualize light emanating from the hearts of all the deities, eliminating the sins and obscurations of the deceased and sentient beings in the lower realms, just like the sun dispels fog.

Think of it as being separated in that way. Then, the purification of obstacles: For the deceased themselves, the types of obstacles that have been accumulating since beginningless time, and the various types of obstacles mentioned in the Sutras and Tantras that obstruct the attainment of higher realms and liberation, should be separated. Bless the round torma with A-KĀ-RO (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, literal Chinese meaning) to transform it into an ocean of nectar, radiating clouds of the five desirable qualities. By generously giving to the obstacles and karmic debts with the mantra of the Treasury of Space, make everyone happy, satisfied, and think of repaying debts and karmic obligations, this is the peaceful purification. For the obstacles that are not satisfied by peace, offer them in the manner of lamp lights and spreading out chang and meat, and expel them with fierce mantras, this is the purification of half peaceful and half wrathful. Even if they do not leave, in order to subdue the harmful and malicious black forces, rays of light emanate from the hearts of the five principal families, urging the eight wrathful gate guardians. From these wrathful deities, countless wrathful deities identical to themselves emanate, and with a rain of weapons and blazing flames, expel the obstacles outside the iron fence like wind scattering bird feathers, thinking of reciting commands, truthful words, and fierce mantras to expel them, this is the fierce purification. Then, purify sins with a fire offering of the same substance: At the heart of the deceased is a black KAṂ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, literal Chinese meaning) syllable, and all the sins and obscurations of body, speech, and mind dissolve into it, and emerge from the right nostril, dissolving into the sesame seeds in front. It is also permissible to burn it by meditating on a triangular pyramid of wisdom fire. If you want to visualize a deity, visualize the flesh-eating Vajra Dakini, offering it into her flaming mouth, thinking that it is purified. Purifying sins by reversing: After roasting mustard seeds and sand that has not been licked by dogs, create a deity. After attaching a protection cord, it is necessary to recite as much as possible, which is the view of the Sutras and Treatises, but nowadays there is no one who can practice it in this way, so during the recitation of the ritual, wiping with saliva is used as a substitute, and it is unavoidable to think in this way, while remembering the benefits of the mantras, sprinkle it on the corpse and amulets, etc., just believing that it can destroy the sins accumulated from beginningless time, apart from this, the scriptures do not say to focus on anything in particular, so it is not necessary. If you must focus on something, then the focus of the recitation itself is the view of the scriptures, so that's it.
