, that was a princess of the King of Oddiyana, who, seeing the faults of household life, went forth. She was skilled in the five sciences. Although she kept the precepts very strictly, due to the ripening of past bad karma, she contracted leprosy, experiencing illness in her body and intense suffering in her mind. Both of her hands were severed from the elbows, and she could not even take food, so she had to beg for food like an animal. Her attendants took her to a grass hut in a remote area, and she lived there dejectedly. One night in a dream, King Indrabuti blessed her and prophesied that if she practiced the Noble Avalokiteśvara, she would quickly attain supreme accomplishment. Therefore, her inner turmoil subsided slightly. During the day, she recited the six-syllable mantra (藏文:ཡི་གེ་དྲུག་པ་,梵文天城体:षडक्षरी,梵文罗马拟音:ṣaḍakṣarī,汉语字面意思:six-syllable), and at night she recited the long and short dhāraṇīs. Some histories say that in the forest of Khasarpaṇa, she received this instruction from an accomplished being of great compassion named Glorious Lion, and meditated on it there. In any case, at one point, when she was tired and depressed from practice, Mañjuśrī appeared to her in a dream and said: Go to Shingkhel in Likar and practice the Noble Avalokiteśvara! In five years, you will be equal in realization to the venerable Tārā. As the prophecy said, on the way to that place, seven lotus ḍākinīs served her. She vowed before the self-arisen Noble Avalokiteśvara statue in Shingkhel not to move from her seat until she had attained accomplishment. So she alternated between meditation and fasting, reciting the generation and completion stages of the Lord of the World, and the long and short dhāraṇīs. After one year, she was freed from her illness. Many doors of samādhi arose. Her body was restored to its original state. All those who sought opportunities, such as demons and the ten direction protectors, were brought under the oath of the venerable one's generation stage and loving-kindness and compassion. The eight great nāgas promised to be protectors of this Dharma. Then, on one occasion, when the bhikṣuṇī was twenty-seven years old, on the first day of the month of Saga, the venerable Tārā appeared to her and she attained the first bhūmi. She said: You will perform the activities of all the Buddhas of the three times. On the eighth day, she saw most of the deities of Kriyā Yoga, such as Amoghapāśa, and attained the eighth bhūmi. She said: Through the door of Avalokiteśvara, you will establish all beings in unsurpassed enlightenment. On the fifteenth day, in the body of the thousand-armed and thousand-eyed, the maṇḍalas of the four classes of tantra and each pore

Seeing the immeasurable arrangement of the Buddha's realms, he lamented that even after practicing austerities for twelve years, he had not seen such a sight. She said, "Although you have been inseparable since you first began practicing, you have not seen it because your karmic obscurations have not yet been exhausted." She then taught the Dharma and blessed him, causing him to perfect all the qualities of the ten bhumis. He attained a state inseparable from the noble ones, and his body became like the color of gold. Thereafter, he entered into the practice of mantra, and everyone paid him homage. In order to dispel disbelief, in the midst of the market of the Khasarpani festival, he cut off his own head with a curved knife, placed it on the tip of a staff, and ascended into the sky, disappearing into the clouds. He then descended to the ground and restored himself to his original state, causing all those present to develop faith. It is said that merely by proclaiming the realization of Avalokiteshvara, all the men and women of that place attained the supreme accomplishment and departed to the realm of the dakinis. Moreover, outwardly, she was the bhikshuni Shri Devi; inwardly, she was the noble Tara; secretly, she was Vajravarahi, the headless one. It is also said that she was the same as Lakara, the sister of Indrabhuti. The pandita Chandra Kumara, who was later taken in by her, was born into a Brahmin family in western India. He was renowned for his mastery of grammar, logic, and other subjects. After ordaining, he practiced the meaning of many teachings he had heard, but he developed a disease of blocked energy channels, and nothing he did helped. So he went to see the bhikshuni Shri Devi, and he was healed simply by her blessing. She said, "You previously disturbed the mind of a lama, and because you confessed this, you have become ill this time and have met me." She bestowed the teachings of the eleven-faced Avalokiteshvara, and he immediately attained the supreme accomplishment of Mahamudra. The pandita Yeshe Zangpo was a member of the royal family who had ordained and was skilled in the five sciences. Due to past karma, a large ulcer appeared on his upper body, and although he underwent many treatments, they were of no avail. He suspected it was the harm of gods and demons, so he requested the teachings of Yamantaka from an accomplished one and practiced them, but the ulcer spread downwards. His body was covered with blisters. Unable to bear the heat and pain, he entered a pool, but the water was boiled by his heat, and he had to change the water. At that time, Nyen Mepal
