Moreover, the glorious goddess herself and most of the lineage lamas have attained accomplishment, making it a special time for blessings. Therefore, it is said that fasting during this time will not encounter obstacles and will swiftly lead to accomplishments. Regarding the extent of recitation, for time-limited recitation: eight fasts, combined with the preceding and following days, amount to seventeen and a half days, which is what is now referred to as the White Eight-Part Fast. Those who plunder and waste wealth, even if they repent and confess to the thousand Buddhas who have appeared in the world, their sins will not be purified, and they will not become pure. However, merely reciting this Great Compassion Mantra will completely eliminate these sins. If someone plunders and wastes the food and wealth of the Three Jewels, only by confessing in the presence of the manifested Buddhas of the ten directions can their sins be completely eliminated. When reciting this Great Compassion Dharani, the Buddhas of the ten directions will descend here and bestow their blessings, thus all obstacles of sin will be completely eliminated. All heavy sins such as committing the ten non-virtuous deeds, the five heinous crimes, slandering others, breaking vows, destroying precepts, destroying stupas, destroying temples, stealing the property of the Sangha, defiling completely pure conduct, etc., will be completely eliminated. Regarding this mantra, there is only one thing that causes doubt. If doubt arises, even the slightest minor sin will not be completely eliminated, let alone heavy sins. Although heavy sins will not be completely eliminated, they will become a distant cause for attaining Bodhi. Furthermore, it is also said in other scriptures: I will guide these pitiful beings who are in the terrifying abyss of samsara, and I will place them in unsurpassed Bodhi. I will accomplish the work of liberating from the abyss of samsara. My eleven faces will constantly gaze upon them, and my thousand hands will give comfort. Whether it be a son or daughter of good family, when the eighth or fifteenth day arrives, whether they are in fasting or in the observance of the upavasa vows, they should recite my name one hundred and eight times and prostrate, and keep me in mind. The noble ones accomplish with truthful words, even if the sky changes, the vow made will not be false, and the aspiration will definitely be fulfilled, this is the merit of attaining the ten powers. In the Eleven-Faced Avalokiteśvara Dharani it says: If someone recites and remembers the names of hundreds of thousands of millions of Buddhas, and another person, in a single moment, from the depths of their heart, recites and remembers my name, the merits of these two are equal and identical. All those who recite my name will attain the stage of non-retrogression. They will be free from all diseases. They will be liberated from all obscurations and fears. The faults of body, speech, and mind will be purified. If someone takes, holds, reads, recites this mantra that I have taught, let alone practice as taught, those people will comprehend and accomplish as if the unexcelled enlightenment is in the palm of their hand. Thus it was said, especially for the sentient beings of the degenerate age and the beings to be tamed of the snowy land, the blessings are particularly swift, as is widely known. Also, at the time of making the aspiration in the past, it was said: Especially for the sentient beings of the final five hundred years of the degenerate age, whose afflictions are coarse, who engage in the ten non-virtuous deeds, commit the five heinous crimes, slander the noble ones, slander the Dharma, destroy stupas and temples, whose discipline is broken and deteriorated, steal the wealth of the Three Jewels, harm the Sangha who practice pure conduct, and those who engage in great evil deeds such as fishermen and butchers, may those who recite my name and recite the dharani mantra become their supreme guides! May they become supreme protectors and saviors!
