The Hundred and Eight Names of Vajra, with the Dharani Mantra. Homage to the Bodhisattva, the Great Being, Vajrapani. Then, the Bodhisattva Vajrapani spoke his own essence: Oṃ Vajra Caṇḍa Sarva Duṣṭāntaka. All those assembled in the great mandala roared, "Haha!" The great vidyadhara holders, including the gods, showered down a great rain of ornaments. The Blessed One also looked at Vajrapani with a smile and said, "Pacifier of hatred, do not frighten these attendants too much!" Vajrapani replied, "Blessed One, this dharani of mine is supremely secret. It is the best of all vidyas, averts all obstructing forces, pacifies all hatred, bestows excellence, bestows prosperity, gladdens those who hate, is meaningful to hear, is meaningful to speak, is meaningful to serve and honor, increases strength, makes one beautiful, increases confidence, bestows power, bestows wealth, gives control, destroys hatred, annihilates hatred, cures poison, makes one victorious, makes one happy, makes one supremely happy, makes one tame, destroys pride, defeats others, pacifies sins, purifies misdeeds, pacifies afflictions such as desire, averts untimely death, pacifies bad dreams, pacifies inauspiciousness, increases glory, makes one fortunate, gladdens all beings, gives power over others, bestows whatever is desired, perfects all qualities, greatly stops excessive rain, stops no rain, and completely pacifies the harm of the times. By merely reciting it, one will be liberated from all fears and will also attain great accomplishment. One will also be victorious in all places. For sentient beings, there is nothing more excellent than this great dharani for protection, rescue, and concealment.
