I prostrate! I offer! I take refuge! Seven times. The offerings and so on are done as before. Now, in the presence of the assembly of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, by reciting the name of the noble Avalokiteśvara and relying on the roots of virtue accumulated, just as the noble Avalokiteśvara generated the mind and took vows in the presence of hundreds of thousands of myriads of Buddhas in the past, so too, in the presence of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, I generate the supreme mind of enlightenment and train in all the grounds of training. May all sentient beings born in the realms of hell, hungry ghosts, and animals, tormented by unbearable suffering, and those in the heavens who are afflicted by disturbing emotions, fearful of this life and the next, and those who are associated with evil friends, plunged into the darkness of the famine of Dharma, held by the grip of wrong views, and those who engage in the ten non-virtuous actions and the five heinous crimes, who slander the Dharma and individuals, who destroy stupas and moral discipline, who generate the root of downfalls, who steal and plunder the wealth of the Three Jewels, and so on, whose roots of virtue are severed, who have no refuge or protection, who have no support or reliance, all remember me. May I immediately see and hear their suffering with my divine eye and ear, and may I be able to quickly liberate them from that suffering. May all sentient beings, by merely hearing my name, purify all sins and obscurations, be born in pure Buddha-fields, attain immeasurable samādhi and wisdom, be liberated from all the great fears of this life, and may all their wishes be easily fulfilled, and may women also obtain the body of a man. May merely hearing my name cause them to remember their past lives, obtain retention, and never turn back from unsurpassed enlightenment. May I be able to emanate various forms that can tame each and every sentient being as vast as the sky, teach the Dharma in accordance with their wishes, and enable them all to be liberated in an instant. May all beings born from... , as well as non-humans, flesh-eaters, fierce wild animals, all those with malicious hearts, as soon as they hear my name, or immediately upon hearing it, may loving-kindness and compassion arise in their minds, so that they practice the sacred Dharma and be able to abide in liberation and sacred bliss. I prostrate to you, venerable compassionate Avalokiteśvara! May I definitely obtain the eye of great wisdom and completely protect all sentient beings; may I quickly become skilled in means and enter the ship of great wisdom; may I cross the ocean of suffering and climb the mountain of nirvāṇa; may I possess the feet of miraculous power and quickly attain the path; may I enter the unconditioned home and become one with the Dharmakāya. Even when I go to the lower realms, may those places be immediately destroyed and emptied, becoming filled with happiness. Noble compassionate lord, by remembering you and uttering your name, may all the unbearable suffering, fear, harm, and opposition of myself and all sentient beings be forever cut off. May all karma, afflictions, unwholesome dharmas, and the actions of demons be purified and liberated. May I directly see the face of the noble Avalokiteśvara, and may all sacred wishes and prayers be quickly fulfilled. May all harm from diseases, famine, weapons, fire, water, wind, and so on in the world be pacified, and may I obtain great power to benefit and bring happiness to all who are poor and afflicted. May all those who are dying have no feeling of suffering, and with firm faith in the selflessness of phenomena and bodhicitta, may they maintain mindfulness, directly see the face of the noble one, and thus be able to exhale their last breath greatly. In short, may I quickly accomplish all the biographies, dhāraṇīs, samādhis, aspirations, skillful means of conduct, various emanations, and immeasurable ocean of wisdom of the noble compassionate Avalokiteśvara, and may I be able to establish all sentient beings in such a state. Immediately after passing away, may I directly see the face of Avalokiteśvara, and may all obscurations be purified in an instant, and all Buddha
