Destroying the assemblies of extremely terrifying demons. Taking hold of sentient beings with the power of impartial compassion, continuously turning the wheel of Dharma in accordance with their respective capacities, and demonstrating the manner of passing into nirvana. Therefore, in order to attain the state of omniscient Buddhahood, as you have requested, I will bestow upon you the true conviction. Generate this wisdom of wanting to enter this path! Having said that, from the two, common and uncommon vows, first is taking the common vow: From this time forth, until enlightenment, I will rely on the Three Jewels as refuge, confessing and admitting with remorse the sinful actions accumulated throughout lifetimes, rejoicing in the roots of virtue of myself and others, and with the aspiration to liberate sentient beings as a guide, generating the supreme mind of enlightenment. Possessing these superior intentions, please repeat after me this taking of the common vow: The Three Jewels are my refuge. I confess all sins individually. I rejoice in the virtue of beings. I hold enlightenment in my mind. (Repeat three times). Second, taking the uncommon mantra vow, there are two parts: supplication and the actual practice. First, for the sake of supplication, please repeat after me: The empowerment of the irreversible wheel, please grant it to me. The deities of the mandala of the protector, the activities of that Vajra Acharya, and the vows of all Buddhas, please explain the secret supreme vows. For the sake of accomplishing the benefit of all sentient beings, I will always be the teacher. (Repeat three times). Second, the actual taking of the vow: Just as the Buddhas of the three times generated the mind of enlightenment, so too, I will generate the unsurpassed mind of enlightenment. In particular, I will uphold the three trainings of abandoning negative actions, accumulating virtuous qualities, and benefiting sentient beings, and as the samaya of the Tathagata family, holding the Three Jewels as refuge, there are three. In the Vajra family: Vajra, bell, mudra, teacher.

Four unions. For the Ratna family, giving the four kinds of generosity, that is four. For the Padma family, holding all the Dharma, that is one. For the Karma family, holding the previous vows as much as possible, and striving in the work of offerings, that is two. These are the teachings to be practiced. Furthermore, represented by abandoning the fourteen root downfalls, etc., holding the special vows through the unsurpassed door of Bodhicitta. Those sentient beings who have not been liberated, I will liberate. Those who have been freed, I will free. Those who have not breathed, I will give them breath. Those who have not completely passed beyond suffering, I will lead them to completely pass beyond suffering. Thinking thus, please repeat after me. All Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, please listen to me. I, named so-and-so, from this time onwards, until reaching the essence of enlightenment. Just as the protectors of the three times, have definitely attained enlightenment. The unsurpassed Bodhicitta, I will generate. The training of discipline, and the accumulation of virtuous dharmas, and the three disciplines of benefiting sentient beings, I will hold them firmly and separately. Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, are the unsurpassed Three Jewels. The vows born from Buddha Yoga, from today onwards, I will hold them firmly. For the great Vajra family, the Vajra bell and mudra, I will hold them in truth. I will also hold the teachers. For the great Ratna family, the pleasing vows, six times each day, always give the four kinds of generosity. From the great Bodhicitta, the pure Padma family, the outer, inner, and secret three vehicles, all the excellent Dharma, hold them all. For the great Karma family, possessing all the vows, I will hold them in truth. The work of offerings, I will also do as much as possible. The unsurpassed and supreme Bodhicitta, I have generated. For the benefit of all sentient beings, I hold all the vows. Those who have not been liberated, I will liberate. Those who have not been freed, I will free. Those who have not breathed, let them breathe, and lead sentient beings to Nirvana. Recite three times. Then, in the six places of you all, write and protect the seed syllables of the six families of the victors.
