May no fear arise! When the five lights of clear wisdom dawn, may I recognize my own nature, fearless and unafraid! When the forms of the peaceful and wrathful deities appear, may I recognize the bardo, fearless and confident! As I experience suffering due to the power of negative karma, may the yidam deity dispel suffering! When the natural sound of reality roars like a thousand dragons, may all transform into the sound of the six syllables! In this moment when I am helpless and follow the path of karma, may the Great Compassionate One protect the deceased! In this moment when I experience the suffering of karmic imprints, may the samadhi of clear light and bliss arise! May the elements of the five elements not rise as enemies, and may I see the pure lands of the five Buddha families! Then, the seventh, bestowing the complete four empowerments. In a slightly expanded context, the vase empowerment of self-liberation of the six realms, the five wisdom empowerments, the complete deity empowerment, the condensed higher empowerment, and the concluding touch-liberation torma empowerment are bestowed. If condensed, hold the main vase. Hūṃ! This vase is a palace, within which reside the peaceful and wrathful deities. From the inner and outer secret mandala, through the empowerment of body, speech, and mind, the supreme inner and outer secret empowerments are bestowed upon you, the fortunate one. May the aggregates and elements transform into deities and goddesses, and may you attain the deity empowerment of the generation stage! Oṃ āḥ hūṃ! Oṃ sarva tathāgata oṃ āḥ hūṃ hrīḥ svāhā! Place it on the head. Give the vase water to drink. Place the scripture on the throat. Āḥ! This scripture of wisdom and intelligence is the speech of the peaceful and wrathful victors of the three times. By bestowing empowerment upon you, the deceased, may you attain the complete secret empowerment! Oṃ bodhicitta mahā sukha vajñāna dhātu āḥ! Oṃ rulu rulu hūṃ bhyo hūṃ! Vāca abhiṣiñca āḥ! Place the five family emblems on the heart. Hūṃ! Vajra, wheel, jewel, lotus, and crossed vajra are the symbols of the heart. By bestowing empowerment upon the son of the lineage, may you attain the empowerment of the five wheels! Vajra cakra ratna padma karma khaḍga abhiṣiñca āḥ! The substances of the five wisdom empowerments, each separately, or condensed into one tsakli. Hūṃ! The water empowerment to extinguish the fire of anger, the crown empowerment to topple the mountain of pride, the vajra empowerment to destroy the poison of desire, the bell empowerment to liberate jealousy and attachment, the name empowerment to dispel the darkness of ignorance, are bestowed upon you, the deceased! Ya Abhiṣiñca Māṃ! (Tibetan) It is vase water. Svā Ratna Jñāna Sva Bhāva Abhiṣiñca Māṃ! (Tibetan) It is the crown. Āṃ Padma Prajñā Abhiṣiñca Māṃ! (Tibetan) It is the vajra. Hā Tiṣṭha Anute Jñāna Sattva Vajra Karma Abhiṣiñca Māṃ! (Tibetan) It is the bell. Oṃ Tri Citta Mati Ami Jñāna Vajra Abhiṣiñca Māṃ! (Tibetan) Thus, the vajra bell. Then, to the peaceful and wrathful deity mandala or the one holding the Vajrasattva form, Hūṃ! Noble one, Vajrasattva, Of one lineage, The body is complete with a hundred noble lineages, Since I am bestowing empowerment upon you, the deceased, May you be completely perfected in the empowerment of the peaceful and wrathful deities, And may you be liberated in the realm of the Sambhogakaya. From the mandala assembly of deities, the emanations of each deity dissolve into the deceased, The deceased is pacified in the heart of Vajrasattva. Prajñā Jñāna Abhiṣiñca Māṃ! (Tibetan) Hold the crystal and mirror. Hūṃ! Wave the peacock feather and sheep intestine in your hand, Entrust the mandala and other appearances, Look at this crystal eye combined, The five lights are the five wisdoms, There is nothing in samsara that is not transformed into mind, May you obtain the empowerment of primordial purity of speech. Dharma Kāya Abhiṣiñca Māṃ! (Tibetan) If bestowing the torma empowerment, combine as detailed in the side notes, Usually it is not necessary. Give the kingdom and the eight auspicious symbols. Ho! Deceased son of the lineage, Since I am bestowing the empowerment of the seven royal possessions upon you, May you have happiness, prosperity, and completeness, And after being rich in the seven noble riches, May you accomplish immeasurable benefit for others. Deceased son of the lineage, Since I am bestowing the empowerment of the eight auspicious symbols upon you, Just as a prince ascends the throne, May you bring the kingdom and subjects under your control, Thus, by fully obtaining the four empowerments, May you obtain the power to benefit others immeasurably.
