The common vehicles were compiled by great figures like Kashyapa, and spread through human transmission. Some Mahayana texts were compiled by figures like Manjushri, transmitted mainly through Bodhisattvas, and spread in the human realm. The Fruition Vehicle, Secret Mantra Vajrayana, was not openly taught by Shakya himself to ordinary beings, but was secretly taught for the sake of fortunate and capable individuals. To dispel doubts about the Secret Mantra among those of lesser capacity, Shakya himself appeared to prophesy the emergence of the Secret Mantra teachings in the human realm to the common disciples of that time. As stated in the Sutra "The King Who Bestows Instructions": "After my Nirvana, in one hundred and twelve years, there will be an excellent essence of the teachings. On the roof of King Ja's palace, through the blessings of compassionate harmony, Vajrapani will teach." In accordance with this, the Buddha empowered the five families of Buddhas and their successors. This Fruition Dharma was written on golden tablets with lapis lazuli letters, and through the miraculous power of compassionate harmony, it appeared on the roof of King Ja's palace as if descending naturally from the sky. King Ja and the master Kukkuraja realized its meaning through the power of Vajrasattva, and thus the Secret Mantra spread in this human realm. Furthermore, Manjushri appeared in the realm of the gods, Avalokiteshvara in the realm of the nagas, and Vajrapani in the realm of the yakshas. In this Jambudvipa, Kriya yogas are in Varanasi, Yoga is on the burning peak of Mount Meru in the Himalayas, Maha and Anu are in the place of King Ja himself, and Ati Yoga is taught and practiced in the island of Dhanakosha, thus greatly expanding. Furthermore, the four transmissions are the common tantras of the three: Generation Stage, Completion Stage, and Great Perfection. The eight classes of illusion belong to the view of Ati and the conduct of Maha, and are therefore also said to belong to the Anu tantra. However it is established, it is acceptable in terms of explaining the key points of Generation Stage, Completion Stage, and Great Perfection. These are the general sources of the teachings, known as the Nyingma Secret Mantra.
