It is the measure for practicing the Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment. These oral instructions and key points common to both Sutra and Tantra are not possessed by everyone. Thus it is said. Its branch is known as the Holy Dharma, the field for severing demons. If named from the perspective of concordance, it is because the unsurpassed Tantras extensively discuss the aspects of extracting the essence of secret conduct, knowledge conduct, and so forth. Moreover, the Mother (Prajnaparamita Sutra) states, "Those who wish to engage in the practice of the profound Prajnaparamita should train in this way." Therefore, it is named the field of practice because it takes the meaning of this into practice. If named from the perspective of adverse remedies, it is because, in the context of the cause, the Perfection of Wisdom, from the acceptance and rejection, the coming and going of the Four Noble Truths, in order to transform the truths of suffering and origin into the path, one practices the profound key points of remedy, reversal meditation, and equal taste. Therefore, it is called the field for severing demons. Furthermore, the meaning of the word "severing" is as stated in the small treatise of the Brahmin Arya Deva: "Severing the root of the mind, cutting off the root of the five poisons of afflictions, making it the cause of ultimate contemplation, conduct without fear or doubt, severing all arrogance. Therefore, it is called severing, a definitive word." And the meaning of the word "field" is that the afflictions to be severed arise from the improperly considered field. Therefore, the yogi brings the field near, takes its imprints, and severs it upon that. Among the four major traditions of Dharma that spread from India to Tibet, this lineage, transmitted from Pha Dampa Sangye, includes both the male severance and the female severance, the latter being the one widely prevalent today. This also mainly comes from the lineage of accomplished practitioners who attained liberation through the direct teachings of Machig Labdrön. It is distinguished by the view of the Prajnaparamita Sutra and the specific methods of mantra, thus considering the realization of Sutra and Tantra to be mixed. The essence of this path is to practice the four teachings from the Condensed Sutra: "The Bodhisattva with wisdom and power increases through four causes. Difficult to overcome by the four demons, they cannot be moved. Abiding in emptiness and not abandoning beings, acting as spoken, blessed by the Sugata." These are the view of abiding in emptiness, the compassion of not abandoning beings, and the conduct of a Bodhisattva acting as spoken by the Buddha.

The law. The Sugata's blessings are four. That is, the view of abiding in emptiness is: first, abandoning the view of self in the aggregates gathered by one's own continuum, not making any conceptualization of characteristics of any object in any realm of other sentient beings, but constantly abiding in the meaning of selflessness; not abandoning all sentient beings is: being especially affectionate to embodied sufferers and the sick, etc., and not harming disembodied gods and demons with a harmful mind, but with great compassion turning them away from the behavior of harming sentient beings and leading them into the path of enlightenment; doing as one has spoken is: abandoning noisy behavior, generating the mind of enlightenment, and not contradicting its vows; the Sugata's blessing is: after taking refuge, supplicating the root and lineage lamas with intense devotion. Based on these, at the beginning of practicing the instructions, one receives the uncommon empowerments that make one a suitable vessel. The actual instructions are the general outline of all the doctrinal systems, such as the Sutra system, the Tantra system, and the mixing of Sutra and Tantra realizations. The uncommon preliminary practices are accumulating merit in the inner body and bestowing blessings of devotion and supplication from the essential points. The main practice is to seek the truth of the mind by relying on pure awareness, to find the truth of the mind, to settle into a stable state, and to show the method of settling. Relying on the opening of the sky-door, one recognizes the meaning of the Mother. In meditative equipoise, one cultivates the self-nature that is beyond words, thought, and expression, and accomplishes the Dharmakaya in one session. In the post-meditation, as it is said in the Collection of Teachings: Cut the attachment to objects with obstacles. Cut the attachment to the unobstructed mind. Cut the attachment to joy and excitement. Demons are divided into four types. In short, they are all included in the demon of pride. Thus, one cuts off hope and fear for the four demons, cutting off the previous acceptance and grasping. For what is difficult to cut off, one cuts it off with fearless force. In dangerous places, one decides in one session, and in order to improve, one associates with the instructions in dangerous places. If the measure arises, one mixes space and awareness, abandoning the body as food, visualizing white offerings, red offerings, variegated offerings, etc., alternating between peaceful and wrathful, placing the discriminations of good and bad in equanimity, and placing both external gods and demons and internal self-grasping at the edge of selflessness, temporarily completing the measure.
