The meaning of the syllable "pa." The teaching methods that came to Tibet mainly focused on turning students away from the path of non-virtue, thereby purifying the afflictions in their mind-streams. However, this (teaching) quickly pacifies problems such as physical disabilities and illnesses caused by past karma, making one able to endure yogic practice. Therefore, the general name "Chöd" (Wylie: gcod, severing) became a specific term. As the Mother Tantra says, "The mantra that completely pacifies all suffering." And as the King of Tantras says, "Pacifies the suffering of the three sufferings." It was named based on these statements. Its essence is Prajñāpāramitā, which is in accordance with mantra, and is a special instruction that integrates the profound essence of all sutras and tantras. In general, the accomplished master, the holy Sangye Kye-mey, mastered the sounds and meanings of Āli and Kāli. Because its secrets are inconceivable, it reveals limitless Dharma doors of expression, language, and meaning in accordance with the dispositions and faculties of those to be tamed. Therefore, it cannot be categorized into a single fixed system. However, in most cases, students are guided in accordance with their own conduct, possessing the support of the three vows, taking the path of asceticism as the means, and altruistic actions as the result. Initially, he composed the "Three Chöd Lamp Malas," summarizing the three higher trainings into the practice methods for beings of inferior, intermediate, and superior faculties. In Tibet, there is a saying of three transmissions, early, middle, and late. The first is the Kashmiri tradition, which summarizes the teachings of the fifty-four accomplished men and women into five key points symbolized by five examples. The middle transmission has three lineages: Ma, So, and Kam. The Ma lineage relies on the transmission of meaning, introducing it through sixteen practical instructions, and relies on the transmission of words, cutting off exaggerations and diminutions through sixteen important points. The So lineage is introduced by abiding in a way that possesses three key points, in the manner of inferior, intermediate, and superior, and is practiced by possessing ten commitments. Although the Kam lineage had extensive teaching methods, it seems that only the meaning instruction of the Heart Sutra of Prajñāpāramitā remains. The later transmission is the lineage of Bodhisattva Kunga, which is the oral instruction of Prajñāpāramitā, in accordance with mantra, the entrustment of the root and lineage gurus, the introduction of the essential meaning, and the greatness of various interdependent means.

Adorned, thus all the Buddha's teachings are practiced at once on a single seat, the essential instructions. Regarding the practice of the Immaculate Drop, the profound four symbolic empowerments, unique to this tradition, precede the ripening of the unripe basis. Causing the unexperienced to arise, it is extracted from the path of white, red, and black guidance. Causing the unrealized realization to dawn, the blessing of the guru is made into a path. Causing the unceased proliferation to cease, the meaning is impressed upon the mind through a collection of words. In short, according to the actual method of guidance, the instructions of the Seven Complete Seats, the superior faculties directly see the unadulterated state of the innate mind, beyond grasping and clinging, thereby instantly attaining Buddhahood, which is the key point of the White Guidance, the Naked Seeing of Awareness. The intermediate ones train in the bindu of the equal part of the three doors, and by perfecting the path of the four kayas of the guru, they accomplish the four kayas in a leap, which is the key point of the Red Guidance, the unwavering devotion. The inferior ones attain the five paths of gradual entry, which are the three key points of the Black Guidance, the subtle cutting of instructions. In the latter, externally, the instructions of external characteristics are summarized into one root in eight stages, and by relying on practicing the five paths on one seat, the accumulation path is praised through mind training. The Mother Tantra relies on completing the five stages of the path of moving wind generation and retention on one seat, thereby placing the path of joining in the path of asceticism. The Mother Tantra relies on meditating on the four mudras of the bliss experience instructions in a complete seat, thereby cutting off the aftermath with the path of seeing. The instructions of the essence of meaning rely on meditating on the four yogas or four samadhis in a complete seat, thereby enhancing the path of meditation through taste equality. The instructions of self-liberation of awareness rely on meditating on the six-branched union in a complete seat, thereby attaining the ultimate state of the path of non-action. This method is a unique characteristic of the noble Buddha, which has never occurred in China and Tibet before. Externally, it extracts the essence of the three pitakas, internally, it cuts off the lifeblood of the four tantras. Secretly, it opens the eye of the essence of meaning. Thus, by unraveling the seal of the dakinis, it possesses the path of practice for practicing all the Buddha's teachings on one seat, and is adorned with many excellent means of dependent arising. From the path of the gradual stages of Zhikpo Nyiseng, the common salt of the practice lineage.
