As stated, it exists in the basis of the nature of reality, the stages of the path, and the ways of manifesting the fruit. Within the nature of reality, there are two: the nature of the basis of reality and the nature of the mind. Each of these has three aspects: coarse, subtle, and extremely subtle, which are taken as objects of training. In the path, there are two: maturation and liberation. Empowerment precedes the maturation of the mind-stream through any of the superior, intermediate, or inferior levels that are compatible with the recipient's capacity. In the two methods of liberation, the generation and completion stages, beginners practice them alternately, and once accustomed, they practice them simultaneously. In the completion stage, there are also two paths: the path of means and the path of liberation. By practicing the means of training that are compatible with the object of training, the fruits are the ten signs, the eight qualities, the four activities, and other common attainments, as well as the seven limbs, the eight powers, and the supreme attainments of the four bodies and five wisdoms, which will be manifested and attained in this life or in the bardo, depending on the difference in capacity and diligence. Among these, the six dharmas of the path of means are the profound and swift path for manifesting the wisdom of the great seal that arises from means, relying on the bliss of means, etc., and are the practice of those with sharp faculties and diligence. They come from the tradition of the glorious Naropa, and the main deities relied upon are Chakrasamvara, Mayadevi, Chaturyoga, the special five lineages of Guhyasamaja, and the essence of the intent of the Kalachakra, which encompasses all. Therefore, it is known as the path of means related to the tantras. As it is said in the Valid Cognition of the Teachings: "Tummo, karmamudra, illusion, dream, clear light, bardo, transference, and entering a corpse." Thus, tummo is the root of the path, karmamudra is the enhancement of the path, illusory body is the life force of the path, dream is the warmth of the path, clear light is the essence of the path, bardo is the decisiveness of the path, transference is the expulsion of the path, and entering a corpse is the connection of the path. Among these, tummo, illusory body, dream, and clear light are known as the four root dharmas, and they are the profound path for manifesting union without having to study for a lifetime. Since the instructions on bardo and transference are taught to those of inferior capacity who cannot manifest the fruit in this life, they are called the six dharmas. Karmamudra and entering a corpse are branches of enhancement and connection, so they are not counted separately. This is the view of Lord Gampopa of Dagpo.
