Composed by Gelong Rinchen Drub, combining the lineage of the monastery and... Sarva Da Mangalam. The notes on the instructions of Resting the Mind Itself, written by Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo. I prostrate and take refuge at all times at the feet of the embodiment of all Buddhas of the three times, the venerable Vajradhara Losal Gyatso Drakpa Gyaltsen Pal Zangpo. Please hold me with great compassion. Here, the emanation of the noble Avalokiteśvara, named the great accomplished Mitra Joki, after practicing for twelve years, on a vajra wooden seat as smooth as a mirror, the noble Great Compassionate Khasarpaṇi appeared to him directly. In order to rest the minds of all sentient beings who have been exhausted by suffering since beginningless time, like the twenty-five doors that gather all the subjects of the Prajñāpāramitā. Having heard the twenty-five Doha Vajra verses, that very lord of yoga who attained supreme accomplishment, was well heard by the great translator Khro Phu Lotsawa, and the oral instructions practiced in his heart. The method of practicing the yoga of instructions called Resting the Mind Itself, can be summarized into three parts: preliminaries, main practice, and post-practice. Among these, the first part is further divided into three types: common preliminaries, uncommon preliminaries, and special preliminaries. First, the common preliminaries: one's own body sits comfortably on a cushion, fumigated with the joy of meditation. Relax and rest until body, speech, and mind have not returned to their normal state. Then, visualize the direction in which you are located as a pure realm formed from the self-appearance of wisdom, in the center of the vast expanse, on a wide and tall precious throne supported by lions, in the center of a colorful lotus, visualize a full moon mandala. Around it, countless slightly lower precious thrones, lotus, and moon cushions surround it. On the central cushion, one's own root guru, in the form of youth, with legs slightly extended from the vajra posture, sitting in the posture of a king playing or a youth playing. Its outer perimeter

Upon the lotus seat, from the Lord Avalokiteśvara to the venerable Doringpa Master, all the lineage lamas who come to offer solace, sit in a clockwise direction like pearls strung on a thread. On the outer layer of the lotus seat, successively upon the lotus seat, are the root and lineage lamas related to one's own three times, the deities of the mandala of the yidam, the Sambhogakāya Buddhas, the sacred Dharma displayed in thangkas like stacked rocky mountains, Bodhisattvas and Śrāvakas, monks holding the image of self-arisen Buddhas, Ḍākinīs, Dharma protectors, and guardians, all sitting in a clockwise direction. In the center of the ground in front of them is oneself, to the left and right are one's parents, in front are the demonic enemies led by the evil demons, and finally all sentient beings including the six realms and the bardo. Visualize that the body, speech, and mind of all of them are integrated into one, and together they take refuge. Recite with the mouth: I and all sentient beings, mothers as vast as the sky, from this time until attaining the essence of enlightenment, take refuge in the glorious and precious root and lineage lamas. I take refuge in the Buddha. I take refuge in the Dharma. I take refuge in the Sangha. I take refuge in the deities of the mandala of the yidam. I take refuge in the Ḍākinīs, Dharma protectors, and guardians who possess the eye of wisdom. Like this, according to the tradition, one can perform six rounds of refuge, or simplify it to four rounds. In this way, continue reciting hundreds of times, etc., until the body and mind change. Finally, join the vajra palms at the heart, and recite the refuge prayer. Generate bodhicitta: Place all sentient beings in the mind, and with the wish to liberate sentient beings, recite three times "May all beings have happiness..." etc. Then, visualize that the bodies of oneself and others are transformed into emanations equal to the number of dust particles, in order to realize a meaningful encounter, prostrate; in order to realize meaningful enjoyment, offer offerings; regret past sins as if poisoned; vow not to commit evil even at the cost of life, confess sins with the complete four powers; rejoice and praise in order to increase the vast accumulation of merit; and request the turning of the Dharma wheel for the long-lasting existence of the Dharma.
