Completely let go, think of nothing in your mind, let the mind be as clear and empty as a clear sky, openly and brightly without clinging. By staying still, the Samatha of bliss, clarity, and non-thought arises. Examine whether there is attachment, hatred, clinging, grasping, and whether agitation and dullness have entered into it. Distinguish its advantages and disadvantages and recognize them. Secondly, Vipassanā has three points. First, Vipassanā as a cause, which is to contemplate and meditate on the mind after examining and analyzing it: Like this, where does my mind come from, where does it abide, and where will it cease? Examine and analyze the nature of the three: arising, abiding, and ceasing. Do the five elements arise, abide, or perish in one's own body? Examine and analyze in this way. Furthermore, does the mind have colors such as white, red, yellow, green, or mixed colors? Or does it have no color? Examine and analyze in this way. Furthermore, is my mind the nature of earth, water, fire, wind, or space? Is it a shape such as round, square, crescent, long, or oval? Is it shapeless? Examine and analyze in this way. Is conceptual thought different from the mind? Or is conceptual thought the mind? Examine and analyze in this way. Furthermore, does the mind arise from external appearances? Or do external appearances arise from the mind? Examine and analyze in this way. The mind of the observer looks at and analyzes the mind. Is the mind itself existent or non-existent? Is it clear or unclear? Is it pleasant or unpleasant? Is it with self or without self? Is it permanent or impermanent? Is it peaceful or unpeaceful? Examine in this way. Is it apparent or unapparent? Examine and analyze in this way. Furthermore, what is the mind that is in equanimity like? What is the mind that is not in equanimity like? Examine and analyze well with your own mind. Also, examine and analyze well the nature of the awareness of the one who abides in equanimity. Moreover, are those minds one or many? Examine and analyze in this way. At that time, the nature of the mind is free from the three: arising, abiding, and ceasing. Its nature is emptiness by nature, like the expanse of the sky, naturally luminous, that is the unobstructed play of awareness, whatever appears.

All appearances and phenomena are unborn, un abiding, without cessation, and equal in taste. Their essence is emptiness, their nature is clarity, and their unobstructed awareness manifests in many ways, with appearance and emptiness being inseparable. Like the sky, it is beyond thought, and the three, clarity, awareness, and emptiness, are without beginning or end. If that is the case, then one must be skilled in recognizing all the qualities, such as the three bases, paths, and results; the four views, meditations, actions, and results; the Four Noble Truths; the four joys; the four immeasurables; the six perfections; the ten bhumis; the five paths; the two, skillful means and wisdom; the two truths; refuge; confession; protection; bodhicitta; the two accumulations; compassion; the generation stage; the completion stage; shamatha and vipassanā; the Three Jewels; the three kayas; and the five wisdoms, from the basis of recognizing one's own mind. Then, secondly, for the vipassanā of essence, one must directly recognize ordinary awareness as fresh and immediately practice it. The mind is free from the three extremes of arising, ceasing, and destruction, liberated from the grasping of subject and object, which are the clinging to self and other. Its essence is emptiness, its nature is clarity, and its unobstructed awareness appears and is clear in countless ways, without any object. It transcends the object of grasping, which is the seen and the seer. It is liberated from the object of focus, which is the meditated and the meditator. It does not think of anything and is free from thought. It is relaxed because it is not fabricated. It is without action because it is free from all activities. It is without grasping because it is free from identifying whatever arises. It is unadulterated and uncorrected in the awareness of samadhi, so it is still. It is empty and clear because there is no clinging to characteristics. It is clear and bright by its own nature. It is naked because it is not stained by conceptual grasping of subject and object. It is clear because one knows one's own face. Because the grasping of object and subject is destroyed, appearance and mind are inseparable and completely transparent. Because awareness is left in its natural state without fabrication, ordinary awareness does not become entangled in a continuous stream of conceptual thoughts, so it is called fresh awareness. This is the actual essence of practicing vipassanā. Furthermore, the nature of mind is also Avalokiteśvara, because he gazes impartially at all beings with the eyes of great compassion, so he is Avalokiteśvara. With the omniscient eyes of transcendent wisdom, free from the extremes of conceptual thought, he sees all dharmas clearly, like reflections, so he is Avalokiteśvara. Self-aware wisdom.
