Appearances should also be recognized as the self-appearance of mind itself. That itself is the urging of virtuous practice. Do not grasp the body as the body, do not grasp the deity as the deity, do not grasp the miracle as the miracle. Entrust awareness to the nature of reality, without fear or hesitation, without pride or conceptualization, let the mind relax in its own way. With a relaxed and comfortable mind, loose and unconstrained, open and clear, without any mental support or attachment, let your behavior be free and easy. By resting in this way, as a sign that experience and realization arise together: the mind is relaxed and comfortable, awareness is light and joyful, experience is delightful, body and mind are at ease, warmth spreads, wanting to dance, wanting to sing, wanting to wander freely, wanting to do things never done before, wanting to go to places where demons and spirits gather, places never wanted to go before. At this time, do not block awareness, but let it flow naturally. Afterwards, calmly bring it all together, relax and release, without distraction, rest as before. At that point, the distinction between demons and gods will become clear. Furthermore, even if unpleasant things happen, such as someone saying they will dig out your heart, or saying that your Dharma and practice are false, or saying that you will die at this time, etc., do not believe them to be true, but let awareness be relaxed and comfortable. Like a loving mother, rest with a broad mind. Rest without fear or hesitation, without pride or conceptualization. This is the time to transform wrong views into right views. Also, various miraculous visions may appear in dreams: sliding from the edge of a cliff, almost falling into a deep abyss, or entering a valley, forest, small lake, large river, great fire, black whirlwind, landslide, many waterfalls, being put into a cave, being carried away by a fox, and so on, various miracles. Also, being chased by many people, being killed by those holding weapons, being torn by many wild animals, being beaten by many animals, the appearance of many wild animals, birds, horseflies, fish, frogs, scorpions, centipedes, horses, cows, etc., causing harm to the body in dreams. Whether good or bad dreams arise, do not cling to them, but know them to be illusions of the mind, the urging of practice, without fear or hesitation.

Now, in the state of dharmata, do not grasp at anything with any thought, but relax and let go. Whether dreams are good or bad, they are the magical displays of your own mind, the reflections of habitual tendencies. In reality, nothing is truly established, so in any case, let the mind rest in a state of non-thought, allowing the magical displays to naturally subside, purify, and liberate themselves within dharmata. Transcend with the steadfastness of wisdom, and settle awareness in emptiness and clarity. In this way, the mind will feel comfortable, awareness will feel joyful, and warmth will arise. Thus, when awareness is empty and clear like the center of a pure sky, appearances will arise without clinging. The thoughts of dreams will also arise within dharmata. Furthermore, if there arise unpleasantness, a desire to leave, anger, unwillingness to abide, unwillingness to engage in virtue, a mind scattered with thoughts and unable to abide in its own nature, then awareness is distracted, and the mind is invaded by demons. To avert this, understand that the nature of mind is such that the invasion of demons is not real. Settle awareness in the state of the nature of mind, allowing awareness to naturally abide in its own nature. By settling in this way, the mind will naturally liberate itself in the non-thought of equanimity, awareness will feel comfortable, warmth will arise, and experience will feel joyful. At that time, discursive thoughts will arise as wisdom. When your own mind gives rise to thoughts of liking or disliking desirable objects, good or bad, praise or blame, virtue or vice, right or wrong, pleasure or pain, enemies or friends, wealth, self or other, hope or fear, purity or impurity, fear or anxiety, understand that all of these are your own mind. Settle the mind in a state of unreliance, great self-liberation, and everything will naturally dissolve without separation. At that time, all dualistic appearances will be transformed into non-duality. Again, practice as before. If the yidam deity appears giving prophecies, retinues of gods and goddesses make offerings, all beautiful desirable objects appear, all pleasing things appear in reality and dreams, and various experiences and signs of warmth appear, do not become joyful, but understand that all of this is a play of dharmata. Understand that this is merely an encouragement to virtue in practice. Expand the expanse of wisdom into the great clarity of dharmata, and settle awareness in emptiness and clarity, without the mind wavering.
