I am capable. Understand and make a Dharma connection. It is not appropriate to teach those who are not vessels. Thus he spoke. When Machig (Tibetan, meaning "mother") is in a state of impermanence and change, how does your intention depart? I asked. In the state of no birth, there is no intention. In the state of no cessation, there is no place to depart. However, from the self-liberation of no object, a clear, open, and bright state appears. Thus he spoke. The instruction of questions and answers, called the Twenty-fifth Chapter, is complete. Homage to the one who thoroughly destroys the power of demons. How should I summarize the Chöd realm of Ama Jomo (Tibetan, meaning "mother goddess") in its entirety? I asked. The Chöd realm is spoken of in two ways. That is, not to throw those with faith into the abyss of the lower realms, and not to place those with wisdom in the bonds of samsara. For those with faith, do not have fixed times for practicing Dharma, make your mind without deceit, and protect your vows without hypocrisy, so that you can be liberated from samsara and the lower realms. For those with wisdom, do not enter the evil gate, do not enter the door of sectarianism, do not arrange evil thoughts, and do not place the bliss and clarity of meditation experience in a golden lock. If you are wise, enter the door of Chöd without making mistakes, and practice the state of having no memory and nothing to do in the mind. Thus he spoke. If I practice, how should I do it? I asked. First, make a decision through view, in the middle, believe in achieving the state of equal abiding of the mind, and finally, you need to know how to bring all dharmas into the mind. Thus he spoke. If all dharmas are like lightning near here, I asked. Speaking deviates, meditating errs, desiring destroys. Thus he spoke. Then how should I meditate? I asked. Place the mind in a state of non-attachment, without arrogance, and unchanging, away from liking and disliking. Thus he spoke. If there is one object of focus, I asked. By not focusing, you can cut off the path of error. By just having no object, you can liberate from grasping. I only have one instruction that has no right or left. Thus he spoke. If afflictions arise, how should I apply the antidote? I asked. The clarity does not cease, and grasping does not arise. As soon as a demon appears, you must respond with the necessary Chöd. Thus he spoke. This Dharma needs to understand the meaning beyond words. I asked. The Chöd realm is concise in words but profound in meaning, easy to learn but difficult to realize. It is not the realm of thought. Thus he spoke. Even if I can overcome it, there is still clinging to this appearance. I asked. Originally, a state of self-liberation of clinging must arise from within. If clinging cannot be liberated from within, then what is more important than the Dharma? Chöd

It is said that even someone who thinks they are practicing is a demon. I asked, "How should I practice Chöd?" He replied, "Chöd is practiced without clinging to thoughts like 'I am doing Chöd, I am practicing Chöd.' Instead, it is done with joy, without any bias." I asked, "What is the level of realization in Chöd practice?" He replied, "It is being free from pride." I asked, "What is the extent of being free from pride?" He replied, "The extent of being free from pride is being without fear." I asked, "What are the signs of experience?" He replied, "There is no attachment to external appearances, no clinging to inner mind, and no fixation on secret afflictions." I asked, "What confusion arises regarding the ground of emptiness?" He replied, "Because emptiness is not understood, the clinging of ignorance arises. Therefore, one revolves in the three realms and wanders in the six realms. The essence of Dharma-nature cannot be identified. It is the confusion of the grasper and the grasped, the desirer and the desired." I asked, "Is realizing non-grasping called Buddhahood?" He replied, "Buddhas have the bliss of self-nature and are without the thought of grasping. Leave the mind without thinking of anything. I am not meditating." I asked, "What is meant by 'not thinking'?" He replied, "It means not holding it in the mind. This awareness without grasping is called Buddha, so meditate on this mind as if it were dead." I asked, "What is meant by a yogi?" He replied, "It means being free from thoughts. One must be free from the concept of self-grasping, and attachment must naturally subside. If this is not born in the continuum, even if one verbally claims to be practicing Dharma, it is useless." He said, "One comes alone in the beginning and goes alone in the end, so one must learn to be alone now." I asked, "Having understood this Chöd, does it mean all Dharma is settled?" He replied, "It agrees with the common Dharma, the instructions are particularly excellent, and Chöd is supreme." I asked, "What is the use of being connected to the common Dharma to such an extent?" He replied, "It destroys the delusion about meaning. Cutting off hope separates you from the gods. Cutting off doubt separates you from the demons. Destroying delusion separates you from the demons." So he spoke. "The Vajra Play of Questions and Answers" is thus completed.
