One should practice. If one stays in towns and such places for a long time, the practice will fade away. Therefore, one should not stay in towns for a long time. One should also not be a beggar for a long time. One wanders for the sake of the stomach. One should also not maintain gatherings for a long time. Because words and meaningless chatter and distractions lead one astray, one should always practice in the solitude of the mountains. Even when staying in the mountains, one should not have attachment or fear towards the tracks of wild animals and such things. All of those are done by non-humans, to test loving-kindness and compassion. One should also not have attachment towards the offerings of faith from the villagers. Even if it arises, one should give it all to the Sangha and the Guru. One who wishes to rely on solitude, when first arriving at that place, if one feels joy and happiness from the beginning, but then becomes familiar and unhappy, obstacles will arise, so one should move to another place. If one feels fear and dread from the beginning, but then stays and becomes happy, that is a place where virtuous practice will increase. In such a solitary place, even if non-humans create obstacles to practice, one should pacify them by meditating on loving-kindness and compassion. If that does not pacify them, one should give one's body as food, and that will pacify them. It is not right to act violently, but to cut off gently. With compassion and loving-kindness, the mind of enlightenment, one should place oneself and others on the path to liberation. Fourth, in the section on showing how to eliminate obstacles. If one becomes arrogant by cutting off contagious diseases and plagues, lepers, cripples, sinners, and so on, or if one loses one's previous practice, or if one blames previous impurities, causing the mind to become dull, or if swelling of the body and contagious diseases occur, these are obstacles to practice. Therefore, by relying on the antidotes previously shown, one should quickly pacify them by mixing the practice with whatever one is taking and with one's conduct. If impurity and so on occur, one should mix feces and the vomit of lepers and so on and trample on them. One should go to bad directions and bad constellations and so on for a special purpose and trample on them. Since it is primordially unborn, one should think of being free from effort and mix space and awareness. If one does not mix space and awareness, but distinguishes between them, that is an obstacle to the view. Therefore, one should go forward with the seven-branch practice and so on, and repeatedly mix space and awareness, and train one's strength on the circumstances.

Furthermore, if one thinks that cutting through is easy in practices like Chö (severance), or that it is effective by itself, then the skill will become one-sided and unable to progress, because that itself is an obstacle to practice. Therefore, rely on those difficult-to-cut things that give rise to more conceptual thoughts, and repeatedly practice the skill to remove impurities. Moreover, if one is satisfied with just one recognition, thinking, "This is the Buddha, this is the fruit to be obtained," then it will become an obstacle to attaining the result. Therefore, with a mind free from hope and fear, naturally arising from the Dharma, make vast aspirations as an auspicious condition for accomplishing perfect activities, which is the aspiration of the Great Vehicle. Fifth, regarding the section on pointing out wrong paths, there are three: Chö becoming medicine, Chö becoming desire, and Chö becoming wrathful mantra. Chö becoming medicine means: By practicing in terrifying charnel grounds, through cultivation, wisdom distinguishes the pure from the impure, and a slight clarity arises, thus being able to judge whether ghosts and spirits are harmful, and whether diseases are beneficial, and reciting for others. As a result, everyone feels the effect and repeatedly comes to inquire, this is Chö becoming medicine. Chö becoming desire means: Because of joy, distraction, or the appearance of various merits, it becomes impossible to move between terrifying charnel grounds, and the mind is distracted by worldly affairs, attendants, and fame, losing one's own experience, and freely indulging in desires, this is called Chö becoming desire. Chö becoming wrathful mantra means: Through practice, by the blessing of the truth of Dharma, going to places afflicted by disease or evil spirits and giving blessings, after recovery, everyone comes to invite, frequently going in and out of villages, causing the experience of practice to decline, the power of blessing to diminish, and ultimately needing to rely on wrathful mantras to subdue ghosts and diseases, this is called Chö becoming wrathful mantra. Sixth, regarding the section on gathering scatteredness, there are three: abandoning dullness, gathering scatteredness, and relaxing tension. Abandoning dullness means: When going to terrifying charnel grounds and the like, if there are no miracles or signs of warmth, it is because one's own power of practice is insufficient, unable to evoke the demons, which is the root of Chö. To evoke the demons, one should seal the boundaries with Samadhi. If it still cannot be evoked, then become naked, wear a garment of human skin, blow a flute made of human bone, beat a ḍāmaru drum, and sing songs from India, China, Nepal, and so on.
