Without a preceptor: "Everything is self-arisen," and so on, are ten verses. Since everything mentioned above is one's own mind, there is no need to meditate with forceful antidotes. The distinctions of meditation, such as "clear and distinct," are shown to be non-dual between what is meditated upon and the meditator, like the example of water and butter. Third, if one is seized by the view of spontaneous arising, then conduct is one's own play: "One's own conduct," and so on, are six verses. One should not engage in conduct by deliberately pursuing the meaning of emptiness, and the appearances of experience should not be grasped by clinging antidotes, because self-liberation is the protector of bondage. Even if an antidote is applied, if it turns into self-liberation, then there is no prohibition. However, one should not engage in conduct without realization. According to this view, for conceptual thoughts such as afflictions, one directly cuts them off with a powerful antidote, and expanding the wisdom that cuts them off into emptiness is said to be the supreme conduct. Fourth, when experience transcends the mind: "Experience," and so on, are ten verses. This is the instruction that cuts off the wrong paths of the path, because the root of demons is having an object of focus. Therefore, meditating on an object of focus is not meditating on the Perfection of Wisdom. So what is it? It is being separated from what is meditated upon and the meditator, having the nature of being devoid of all grasping, placing appearances and mind in non-grasping, and destroying all distinctions of experience into emptiness. Even for billions of eons, if one meditates on the object and the subject, it is not the path of that. But in the moment of realizing emptiness, all demons will be liberated in their own place. Therefore, for this reason, relying on the supreme lama is very important. So it is said. Showing demons created by the mind, there are two. Among them, the demon of the result is with desire: "Supreme," and so on, are five verses. That is, the warmth signs of the path of the three vehicles, desire for the result, and clinging are all demons. That also, if it is oneself, then there is no need to accomplish it: "Body, speech, and mind," and so on, are eleven verses. What liberates one from hope and doubt, such as the cause and effect mentioned above, is that if one realizes one's own body, speech, and mind, they are the three kayas. Therefore, there is no need to accomplish the Buddha from elsewhere.

The master Naropa said, "All dharmas reside in the mind." Because it is said, "The root of dharma is mind itself." If one does not realize the nature of mind as it is, even if one practices for kalpas, one will not attain it. Without hoping for the path and the fruit, by cutting off all clinging to self of phenomena and persons, there is no other way to attain Buddhahood. Of the two types of pride-inducing demons, the brief explanation is: the two lines of verse, such as dividing demons into four, are easy to understand. The detailed explanation has three parts: demons with obstacles gathering as pride, demons without obstacles gathering as pride, and joy and sorrow gathering as pride. The first has two parts: showing objects not grasped by view as demons, which are the two lines of verse such as grasping at objects, meaning that due to the delusion of sense consciousness, clinging to white, red, objects, and subjects, one becomes a demon with obstacles. Knowing that the root is severed, which are the fifteen lines of verse such as objects are the field, means that when one realizes that all the conceptual thoughts included by the grasped and the grasper mentioned above are pride-inducing, one realizes that the grasped object is without grasping. By cutting off that pride-inducing factor, the four demons are cut off. For example, just as when the fire inside is extinguished, the smoke in the cracks of the wall naturally disappears. However, this is not like the cessation or the peace of the Hearers, merely blocking the appearance of objects, but rather it means that the appearance of objects such as forms, their essence abides in the emptiness of dharmata, like a rainbow in the sky, appearing but without inherent existence. The noble ones see it in this way, and even ordinary beings, if they investigate and analyze through the means of scripture and reason, it is so. As it is said in the Heart Sutra, "Form is emptiness, emptiness is form." For example, a magician does not develop attachment to his own illusion. Therefore, by realizing that the four demons arising from pride within are unreal, it is not possible to cut them off with a mind of dualistic grasping, but by realizing that objects and grasping are severed from the root, forms and so on are liberated in their own place, which is the Perfection of Wisdom. Therefore, abide in a state without dualistic grasping. From the gathering of pride without beginning, identifying the root of the five demons arising from pride is:
