These should also be combined with the five paths. Initially, there are four, of which there are two types of demons with attachment. First, identifying the arising from the self-demon: 'With attachment,' and so on, are four lines, meaning those that appear in the realm of sensory consciousness, such as form, and those bound to samsara with affirmation and negation. Establishing its essence as emptiness: 'Form is,' and so on, sixteen lines show that when the appearance of form and so on is established, if one examines its essence with wisdom as being empty in nature, it is also established. And in the scriptures it is said, 'Form is emptiness.' The Bhagavan has established all aspects of form, up to omniscience itself, as emptiness. Therefore, by meditating on form and so on as being without inherent existence, one abandons the clinging to permanence in phenomena, and without fixating on emptiness, one is free from the term of annihilation. Although one cannot deny the mere appearance of form and so on in such non-inherent existence, realizing that appearance is without inherent nature is the Perfection of Wisdom. Meditating in this way is the supreme path, as the noble one said: 'Form is devoid of the nature of form itself.' Similarly, feeling, perception, mental formations, and consciousness are devoid of the nature of consciousness itself. Thus, when conceptual thoughts are released and meditated upon, they self-extinguish. Although conceptual thought is a demon without attachment, it becomes entangled due to the clinging of a deluded mind, which is attachment. May these also be transformed into the wisdom of the Dharmadhatu. Second, regarding the demon without attachment, there are two aspects. First, identifying the arising and feeling: 'Without attachment,' and so on, are nine lines, meaning the good and bad feelings that arise from the consciousness of the mind. So it is said. If one understands these, they will naturally become liberated: 'The vast expanse of the Dharmadhatu,' and so on, are ten lines, meaning that from the realm of mind itself, conceptual thoughts like waves of water, as explained above, without negation or affirmation, by remaining in a state of self-awareness and self-illumination, one will be liberated. Regarding the demon of joy and aversion, there are two aspects. Briefly stating: 'Joy and aversion,' and so on, are three lines, meaning the two demons, common and supreme, arise from the delusion of self-awareness.

There are two divisions: common and supreme. The first has two divisions: attachment to qualities is the demon of the path, such as the eight lines beginning with "Nyen Sar." That is, after taking the guru's instructions to heart, transforming minor obstacles into the path, from which arrogance arises, and all other distractions that become obstacles to enlightenment are shown as demons. Showing it as like a dream, such as the eleven lines beginning with "qualities," eliminates the faults of the above-mentioned demons, and the antidote also shows it as unreal. For any common qualities, one should not cling to them with the wisdom that destroys the duality of subject and object, like a dream, like filling one's hands with water. The aspects of qualities, etc., are also the collection of one's own conceptual thoughts, and one should not generate arrogance. Similarly, one should also know the various aspects of suffering, and after knowing them, one should directly cut them off. Up to this point, the instructions for enhancing the practice of those who practice the path of accumulation have been truly shown. The supreme also has two divisions: showing the path of vision as a demon and showing conceptual thoughts as demons. The first has two divisions: identifying the demon also has two divisions: briefly showing it in two lines, and extensively explaining it in fifty-six lines. That is, by saying "supreme," viewing as free from elaboration, meditating on equality, acting without discrimination, and clinging to the experience and feeling of practice, this is because not understanding the duality of subject and object, it cannot become a special path to realizing selflessness, because of clinging. Second, if one understands the symbolism, there are four divisions to liberation: self-arising without seer or seen, such as the six lines beginning with "view and meditation." That is, for some individuals with sharp faculties, the countless differences of view and meditation that are spoken of are actually not to be clung to. One should also abandon self-righteous thoughts, and expand the uninterrupted display of self-nature into unreality, which is the supreme of Chöd. It is also precisely so that in the extensive explanation, from "not attending to form" to "omniscience," it is said not to attend. Second, meditation
