Perfected in the state of self. Clear emptiness, unattached, blissfully arises. The fruit, the four bodies, are spontaneously accomplished. By this merit, may it be shared with all beings. May it be dedicated to the great, non-referential Bodhicitta. This is the special characteristic of Mahayana Dharma. Lama Shangton Rinpoche's words to Khenpo Gyaltsen Bum are complete. The wisdom dakini Niguma directly accepted, the unparalleled great accomplished one, the Shang Chö Nye Gyü's lineage holder, Thangtong Gyalpo, while residing in secret practice in Tsang Gyase Dethang, the five wisdom dakinis promised to accomplish whatever activities were desired and bestowed names that matched the meaning: "Residing in Gyase Dethang, this amazing person, the five girls gathered here will bestow names that match the meaning. In the vast, expansive great plain, the yogi who realizes emptiness, resides like a fearless king, therefore, he is named Thangtong Gyalpo. In the valley of equality, free from elaboration, with the view of inseparable appearance and emptiness, to the madman free from acceptance and rejection, he is named Lungtong Madman. For food and drink with a hundred tastes, and whatever arises, unclean vomit, etc., the essence taker without benefit or harm, he is named Essence Taker of Foods. Whatever various circumstances arise, realizing them like echoes in a dream, subduing the eight worldly concerns, equalizing the taste, he is named Equalizer of Circumstances. All phenomena of samsara and nirvana, although appearing, are like the moon in water, knowing well without clinging, he is named Non-Clinging to Phenomena. The unparalleled yogi, in order to expand limitless activities, on the plain of bliss, the time has come to guide beings. Thus, it was specially spoken. That Lord himself spoke the self-liberation Mahamudra oral instructions, the Vajra Song, to Khenpo Pel Legpa: Listen, son, and Khenpo Delek Pal, in the past, you were also obscured by the darkness of ignorance. Thinking of practicing Dharma, you mixed it with the eight worldly concerns. To accomplish the aspirations of the future life, these are the thoughts of practice. Completely abandon the aspirations of this life, completely let go of attachment to the eight worldly concerns, completely liberate from clinging to mind and protecting face, completely cut off the ties of near and far.

Cut! Sever the stake of self-grasping existence. Loosen the thoughts of hope and fear. Cut off the attachments to food and clothing. Do not desire greatness, grasp humility. Willingly accept the suffering of renunciation. Cast away attachment, hatred, and competitiveness. Banish hypocrisy, deceit, and malice from your mind. Leave gluttony and pretense where they are. Uprightly guard the vows of the three disciplines. Banish pride, arrogance, and anger. Even if despised by all, cultivate patience. Cast ordinary enemies far away. Tame hatred within your own mind. Abandon thoughts of hoarding and stinginess. Rely on loving-kindness and compassion in your mind. In all divine and human affairs, Let your own mind stand as witness. If you do not accomplish your aspirations now, Later, even if you hope, hope will be shattered. Relax in the natural state. Cut off the root of delusion from its source. Look at your own mind without distraction. Tightly grasp the inexpressible thought. If you do not know yourself, Even if bound by suffering, you will only increase affliction. If you do not seize the clear light at the time of sleep, Even if you recognize the nature of mind, the meaning is small. If you do not seize the clear light in the bardo, The suffering at the crucial moment will be more intense. If you do not gain autonomy over your own mind, Even if you meditate for eons, it will only be exhausting. After the previous thought has ceased, In the moment before the next thought arises, be stunned there. In the state of clarity and non-thought, In the state of being without support and free from foundation, This present, fresh awareness, Is your own mind, the dharmakaya, free from elaboration.
