For white diphtheria, visualize a continuous stream of nectar with both cool touch and power descending. From the upper part of the hot area, or from wherever a hole appears, imagine expelling the hot disease itself as red pus from that very opening. Similarly, for cold diseases, visualize red-colored nectar with both hot touch and power descending. From the lower part of the cold area, or from wherever it bursts open, imagine all diseases emerging as white pus. For wind diseases, visualize yellow-colored nectar, rich like butter, descending. From all parts of the body, or from the two lower orifices, or wherever a hole appears, imagine the diseases emerging as bluish or blackish pus. Alternatively, imagine it swirling downwards like a whirlwind or smoke. For heart wind disease, imagine a hole appearing directly from the heart, and then exiting from there. By analogy, extend this to all other diseases as well. Furthermore, meditate on the basis of purification as emptiness, and then from A (ཨ་,अ,a,A), visualize nectar in the form of various wrathful deities descending like a fierce hailstorm. Countless small wrathful ones fill the inside of the body without any gaps. Flames also spread, blazing upwards and in all directions. Also, visualize nectar like a stream of molten wrathful water descending, frightening with the sound of mantras, striking with weapons, burning with fire, etc., driving out those demons with various animal-like forms from the body, making it impossible for them to stay inside, and completely destroying them outside, imagining that not even a trace remains. The specific wrathful deity needed as an antidote for each demon is the same as in the previous section on subjugation. The three visualizations—wrathful deity, fire, and wrathful water—do not occur simultaneously, so they should be done in sequence. This is the fourth visualization cycle. Third, the distinctions of the three signs of emptiness are: By meditating on the emptiness of the purifying A (ཨ་,अ,a,A), the best sign of the purification of sins and obscurations is the actual arising of the following: Merely by meditating on this, the body feels light, awareness becomes clear, the mind becomes gentle, and intelligence becomes sharp. Afflictions such as attachment and hatred decrease, and faith, compassion, wisdom, etc., increase spontaneously. The intermediate sign is that illusions appear in the form of experiences upon waking from sleep. The worst sign is clearly dreaming of taking a bath, flying in the sky, wearing white clothes, etc.

Oṃ. The best sign of healing illness through the practice of Tongra is the actual cure of the illness. The intermediate sign is experience, and the lowest is vomiting in dreams, and the appearance of pus and blood from the body, etc. By practicing Tongra to dispel evil spirits, the best sign of dispelling the harm of evil spirits is the actual cessation of harm, the arising of joy and happiness in body and mind, and the coming of warm hope. The intermediate sign is experience, and the lowest is in dreams, destroying vicious creatures, oneself conquering enemies, and the appearance of creatures from the body, etc. These three signs are the signs of purifying sins and obscurations, the signs of healing illness, and the signs of dispelling evil spirits, these are the three. Each of these is also divided into three: actual, experience, and dream. The signs of healing illness are divided into nine types. First, one should not expect signs to appear. One must remain without making predictions. If signs appear, one should not be attached, arrogant, or happy or unhappy. This is merely the beginning of the unceasing appearance of interdependent phenomena. In reality, nothing has been accomplished, it is like an illusion. By abandoning hope and doubt and remaining in this way, obstacles will not arise in the future and one will go on the path. If actual signs appear, that is sufficient. If a clear appearance arises in the experience of the waking state, one appearance alone is taken as a sign. Dreams alone are uncertain. If it is very clear, appears many times, and even after waking the mind's radiance changes greatly, then it is taken as a sign. The detailed classification of signs is explained in old texts. Although there is no specific practice period designated here, the appearance of signs becoming the beginning of the path is itself the practice, so it is the fifth part of the practice. Second, the main part: Tummo, illusory body, dream, clear light, transference of consciousness, and bardo, these are six. If we speak of their respective great functions, they are: the path of skillful means, bliss-warmth self-igniting; illusory body, attachment and aversion self-liberating; dream, inherent delusion self-purifying; clear light, ignorance self-clearing; transference of consciousness, enlightenment without practice; bardo, victorious one's enjoyment body. Among these, the first is the path of skillful means, bliss-warmth self-igniting. Tummo itself has three parts: preliminary, main, and concluding. The first is, although it is generally the main part of the guide, it becomes the preliminary part in relation to the main part of Tummo itself.
