At the navel, a red Ram (Tibetan: རཾ་) blazes like a fierce fire. At the heart, a blue Hum (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ་) syllable radiates five-colored light, the nature of the earth element. At the crown of the head, Pam (Tibetan: པཾ་) transforms into a white, round nectar mandala, with Mam (Tibetan: མཾ་) in the center and a white Ham (Tibetan: ཧཾ་) syllable pointing downwards. If elaborating at this point, contemplate these syllables representing the mandalas of the four elements. If greatly condensing, it is considered sufficient to have only these three syllables at the crown of the head. Visualize all the lineage lamas in the sky above the mandala, and all the Dharma-protecting guardians in the charnel grounds, abiding here. Ninth, the two purifications are the preliminaries. Water offering, topknot, vajra and bell, name, and five. The main practice is the water empowerment. Cleanse, purify, visualize the deity, bless. Wisdom empowerment, invite and offer to the deity.
