One should visualize a white bindu the size of a mustard seed, and without letting the mind wander, remain in a relaxed state for as long as possible. This will give rise to wisdom. The method of practicing Mahamudra is: The essential points of the body are the seven features of Vairochana, legs in vajra posture, hands in equipoise, spine straight, arms extended like eagle's wings, neck slightly bent, lips naturally placed, tongue touching the palate, eyes lowered to the tip of the nose, and the eyeballs should not move. Visualize the lama clearly in your heart as in the outer practice, and pray to him. Such a mind should not be meditated upon in shapes such as square, round, or triangular. Colors such as white or black should not be meditated upon either. Do not think, do not mind anything. In a state of non-distraction, look intently at the one who is not distracted. If it wanders after a long time, practice in short sessions, keep mindfulness clear, and meditate as before. If the mind does not abide and thoughts arise, look intently at the mind that is producing the thoughts, and it will naturally disappear. If it does not disappear even when looking, it means that the stream of thoughts has not stopped, so completely cut off the stream of thoughts. Even if afflictive emotions such as attachment arise, look intently at the mind that is arising. For the forms seen by the eye and the sounds heard by the ear, do not think "this is big" or "this is small." Look intently at the nature of the mind of that object. Even if the object does not disappear, it is enough if no grasping arises. During all activities such as eating, walking, and dwelling, keep mindfulness without distraction. By meditating single-pointedly without distraction in this way, the various movements of conceptual thought will naturally cease, and without paying attention to good or bad, high or low, hope or worry, relax like a tired person resting. If no matter what you do, you cannot keep the mind still, and various thoughts arise like bubbles bursting from water, first investigate the source of the thought, but you will not find the source of "coming from here"; investigate the destination of the thought, but you will not find the destination of "going here"; the nature in between is not established as the nature of shape, color, etc. Knowing the emptiness of the three—arising, abiding, and ceasing—do not wrongly discriminate whatever thoughts arise.

Being liberated in the realm of Dharma, unable to cause benefit or harm, is like a water bubble dissolving into water. There is no other meditation than to not let the mind wander, but to stare at the one who wanders. To summarize, the mind wanders in samsara because it does not recognize itself. If it recognizes itself, it attains Buddhahood, therefore it is the basis of both samsara and nirvana, so it is called the "Base Mahamudra." Although this mind is the basis of both samsara and nirvana, this mind has no form or color, so there is no object that can be called "this." Similarly, recognizing like and dislike, etc., and there is a clear and bright thing that can recognize one's own nature, so it is not non-existent. Because it is free from existence and non-existence, recognizing the self-nature of reality and cutting off addition and subtraction is called view. Meditating without distraction in the state of cutting off addition and subtraction is called meditation. For that meditation, whether walking or staying, meditating without interruption is called action. Meditating in this way, recognizing what the reality of the base is like, and habit becomes manifest, therefore realizing the Dharma nature without obscuration is called the fruit. In this way, being free from all shapes, forms, coming and going, the appearance of one's own mind is without self-nature, that is the Nirmanakaya. Not being attached to happiness is the Sambhogakaya. Not being attached to clarity is the Dharmakaya. These combined, without characteristics, that is the Svabhavikakaya. Therefore, one's own mind is the nature of the four bodies of the Buddha. The Dharma nature of one's own mind is free from all extremes of expression and elaboration, that is the Dharmakaya. One's own mind as a phenomenon, appearing in various ways and pervading all, that is the Rupakaya. There is no Buddha more supreme than one's own mind, one's own mind is the Buddha. There is no pointing to the Buddha elsewhere, the wisdom of the Buddhas cannot be found by searching elsewhere. One's own mind is like a wish-fulfilling jewel, like a wish-fulfilling jewel that has been cleaned, placing it on the top of a victory banner and praying, all needs and desires will appear, if one's own mind recognizes that it is the Buddha, all benefits and happiness will appear, if the jewel sinks into the mud, it will not be able to function.
