cannot accomplish, and possessing pure morality, without hypocrisy, etc., being able to go alone to a solitary mountain retreat. Possessing pure morality without pretense, with altruistic intention without bias towards near or far, for the sake of beings, generating the mind of enlightenment, striving earnestly in unwavering practice. Enduring obstacles to life such as heat, cold, hunger, and thirst, without being swayed by fame and commotion, practicing the instructions as they were taught. This is the chapter on abandoning activities. Homage! The wisdom of sentient beings is immeasurable, the differences in faculties are countless, and due to the differences in the size of practice, the beginning and end of the Buddhas are inexhaustible. In brief, there are three kinds of pith instructions, which, due to the differences in the size of practice, are for individuals of gradual, simultaneous, and direct breakthrough capacities. The supreme path of the gradual is the false dharma of the simultaneous. The supreme path of the simultaneous is the false dharma of the gradual. The peacock's best food is potent poison; if others eat it, they will die. The fish's best dwelling is water, but humans and others drown in water and die. Fish die when taken out onto dry land. What benefits a feverish illness harms a cold illness. What benefits a cold illness is very harmful to a feverish illness. Even for one person, different vehicles are taught separately according to circumstances. What benefits in an inferior time becomes a binding in a superior time. What benefits in a superior time becomes a cause for downfall in an inferior time. For the same feverish illness, cool medicine is beneficial immediately upon onset, but it is very harmful when nearing recovery. Therefore, one should understand the circumstances, timing, and the high and low of faculties, and not disparage each other's paths. The individual of the gradual path, first, because leisure and opportunity are difficult to find, generates renunciation from the fear of bad migrations. Having contemplated the impermanence of leisure and opportunity, one quickly takes refuge in the Three Jewels. After that, one observes the eight precepts of the upavasatha, then the five precepts of meditation, and the precepts of the śrāmaṇera and bhikṣu. Having turned one's mind away from the worldly dharmas of saṃsāra, and having confidence in nirvāṇa, possessing the discipline of definite emergence, one studies the tenets of the Vaibhāṣika and Sautrāntika schools. After that, in order to abandon inferior enlightenment, one contemplates the kindness of beings, and through familiarizing oneself with love and compassion, generates the supreme mind of enlightenment, and...

With the three—preliminary, main, and subsequent—, Seize the six perfections, Gathered into the two accumulations, From the union of emptiness and compassion, Practice calm abiding and insight, Tame your own mindstream well. With selfless altruistic intention, Constantly strive for the benefit of others. Such a trained individual, To accomplish the body with seven branches, Enter the door of the Vajrayana, Gradually study the four classes of tantra. Then, in the tantra of Unsurpassed Yoga, Receive the vase empowerment, etc., With pure vows well-protected, Practice the generation stage. Then, with the secret empowerments, etc., Bless the root-winds with effort. Then, meditate on the bliss and emptiness of the third, Practice the ultimate fourth. Gradually mention individuals in brief, The types of individuals are countless, It is necessary to ascend from the lower vehicles, It is enough to learn in brief, There are also those who do not need to learn, There are those who attain without empowerment, Many are empowered but do not attain, If empowered, one attains, if not empowered, There are also types that do not attain. There are also those who inherently possess empowerment, Thus, knowing the types of vessels, Practice the practice that suits the vessel. The chapter on showing the gradual path and the types of individuals is finished. With faith and understanding following the sacred Dharma, The disciple urged diligently, known as "Effort," Thinking that if there is benefit, the limit will not regress, It was made for the realization of those with good fortune to practice. The single individual, With whatever objects such as the body, Pleases the lineage lama. With the empowerment or blessing, Well-propelled by the mind of enlightenment, From the very beginning, the definitive meaning, Practice Mahamudra. The lama who possesses the essence of realization, Like showing a treasure in the hand, Introduces the wisdom inherent in one's own mind, Although there is no meditation object or meditator, Do not be distracted from the state of non-meditation. With the desire to pacify the many proliferations of conceptualization, One obscures the spontaneously accomplished wisdom. When meditating on Mahamudra, There is no need for detailed instructions on what to do. The three—preliminary, main, and subsequent—, Have no fixed order or number, There is no need to calculate time or dates, Whenever you remember, relax and let go. There is no beginning, middle, or end, One's own mind is unborn and continuous.
