The conduct of not relying on anything, a conduct like the sky. The conduct of having no affirmation or clinging, a conduct like a madman. Through these five ways, transform all circumstances into the path and enhance the essence of reality. Second, when conceptual thoughts such as good and non-good arise and cause disturbance, recognize that conceptual thought and let whatever arises be without manipulation, let it be relaxed. That is, do not focus on that thought, but rather gather the mind and meditate on the antidote wisdom. Do not analyze the nature of that thought and determine that it is without inherent existence. Do not follow that thought and do not guard it with mindfulness. Simply recognize that thought and make that thought itself the essence of meditation, without judging how it is, without intentionally rejecting it, and without following it. Instead, without manipulating it, rest clearly, loosely, and spaciously. In this way, whatever thought arises, there is no need to abandon, accept, negate, affirm, or transform it; it naturally arises as meditation. This is called transforming conceptual thoughts into the path. Because it has not yet become emptiness, the strong waves of conceptual thoughts may initially feel uncomfortable, but they will unconsciously be transformed into the path. Gradually, they become emptiness, and eventually, simply recognizing them transforms them into the path. Third, when any of the five afflictions arise, such as desire, hatred, ignorance, pride, or jealousy, recognize it, neither reject it nor follow it. Instead, without manipulating that affliction, rest clearly and spaciously, and it will arise as meditation. Sometimes, to make the affliction even stronger, focus on the object and condition of the affliction, whether it is an external object or an internal sentient being, such as the object of attachment, the object of hatred, etc., thinking about it more intensely than before. After it arises, rest as before. For ignorance, when recognizing the drowsy mind and feeling sleepy, without manipulating it, rest on it, which will become a method for transforming sleep into luminosity. Whether it becomes emptiness or not, it happens as before. Fourth, when feeling fear and unease due to the illusions of gods and demons, recognize the thought of fear, neither reject it nor follow it. Instead, without manipulating that thought of fear, rest clearly and openly.

Through guarding, it appears as meditation. If miraculous powers appear, think: there won't be more terrifying miraculous powers than this, thereby generating even greater fear, and practice as before. The fifth is: In general, when seeing the suffering in samsara, especially when a sentient being is suffering, if compassion does not arise for them, but rather fear arises that one will become like that, thereby generating joy in meditation, this is the mind of the Lesser Vehicle. If love arises for them, and thereby love arises for all sentient beings, this is the mind of the Great Vehicle. Whichever mind arises, recognize that mind, and let it naturally and clearly exist without modification, transform it into the path, and without losing that experience, generate loving-kindness, compassion, and the mind of enlightenment for all beings, and make aspirations. The sixth is: When one is sick with any kind of disease, do not think about the causes and conditions, etc., and do not fall into acceptance and rejection, but rather make the clear pain of the illness itself the object of meditation, and let it naturally and clearly exist without modification. If you do this for a long time, the illness will appear as meditation without having to be removed, and you will benefit from it. If treatment is needed, it is the same as before. In addition, one should investigate the self-grasping of the one who is sick, the one who is in pain, and the one who is experiencing, and let it naturally exist without recognizing its essence, etc. Here, although it is asserted that medical treatment should be abandoned through equal taste, this is to transform one's own illness into virtue, and not to foolishly treat the support of achieving enlightenment without regard for life or death. The seventh is: In this way, transform whatever happens in life and whatever circumstances are encountered into the path, and become accustomed to it. At the time of death, whatever appears, whether it is the gradual process of dissolution or other phenomena, simply recognize them, and do not engage in the entanglement of hope, fear, and acceptance and rejection, but rather let whatever appears naturally and clearly exist without modification. In this way, after the dissolution process is complete, the clear light of one's own nature will appear, and the clear light cultivated on the path will merge with the clear light of one's own nature, just as water merges into water, or sky merges into sky, thereby attaining Buddhahood. If one is not accustomed enough, even if one does not attain Buddhahood, one will gain autonomy in the bardo and rebirth through the power of previous habits. These path-taking instructions are scattered throughout the writings of peerless Dagpo, transforming whatever circumstances and phenomena arise into Mahamudra, thereby attaining completeness in equal taste. But later the Kagyu lineage
