I strive to pray that I may appear as the Dharmakaya, and as previously explained, single-mindedly focus on abiding in the nature of reality, thereby distinguishing between purity and impurity. In a state of mind that is not distracted and is spacious and clear, without fabricating various gross and subtle thoughts, but rather observing them without attachment, observe what differences there are between these gross and subtle thoughts. Observe what differences there are between these thoughts and the nature of the abiding mind. Similarly, observe various kinds of thoughts such as thoughts of happiness, suffering, and the three poisons of afflictions. Sometimes suppress thoughts, sometimes let thoughts increase, sometimes chase after thoughts, and so on, doing various things to observe. Observe the appearances of external objects, beautiful and not beautiful, pleasant and unpleasant, gross and subtle, and so on. Through various postures of the body, and through opening the eyes, smiling, looking to the right, looking to the left, and so on, allow various different ways of appearing to arise, and observe what differences there are between these appearances. Observe what differences there are between these appearances and the nature of the mind, let it go on for a few days, and when a decisive experience arises, as previously explained, clearly identify thoughts and appearances, thereby generating certainty. Thirdly, it is not enough to think that the nature of meditation is without arising or ceasing, and is beyond thought, so in a state of mind that is not distracted and is spacious and clear, directly observe the nature of meditation without attachment, and repeatedly observe what it is like. Similarly, repeatedly observe the awareness of the meditator, and the awareness that clings to I and mine. Furthermore, what differences are there between the three minds of the past, future, and present? Where has the past mind gone? Where has the future mind come from? What is the present mind like? Observe these, and let it go on for a few days to cut off superimpositions, and when a decisive experience arises, the object to be meditated upon, the meditator, and all the minds of the three times, are all inseparable from the nature of mind, appearing as anything, but not established anywhere. And this mind, too, is not defiled by any superimpositions such as establishing a nature, setting up a place, support, arising and ceasing, the three places, the divisions of the three times, and so on. From the very beginning, it is without basis or root, never deluded, never liberated, cannot be defiled by faults, cannot be adorned by qualities, self-arisen, self-purified, incomparable, transparent, and clear in its own nature. In this way, introduce it, and let it abide naturally and relaxed for a few days without intentional clinging, thereby generating certainty.

Thereby generate decisive conviction. If the practitioner is dull-witted, then separately distinguish the appearances and thoughts mentioned above, as well as the nature of meditation, the meditator, and the awareness of the three times (past, present, future), and contemplate them for many days, making sure to gain a definite understanding with certainty. This is very important. Fourth, after that, abandon all thoughts of what is to be meditated upon, who is meditating, what is to be experienced, who is experiencing, what is to be realized, and who is realizing. Abandon all intentions of right and wrong, and all desires such as wanting to meditate and wanting to remember. Do not even have the desire to think of anything, but just stay in the ordinary, uncontrived natural state of mind, staying as comfortably as possible. Whatever thoughts and appearances arise naturally, do not try to modify or change them with the mind, but let them be. Do not follow after intentions either. Do not regard moments of distraction as faults, and do not analyze or investigate. Whenever you remember, transform into the ordinary, uncontrived state where there is nothing to meditate on, nothing to experience, and nothing to do. Eating, sleeping, and walking should also be done in a state of non-thought, and do nothing else. Except for a few tormas and prayers, put aside all other virtuous activities and stop talking. When sleeping, also sleep in the ordinary, uncontrived, natural state. In this way, for several weeks, abandon all intentions and let the mind rest in its natural state, and observe the experience. When the clinging to good is released and the confusion of bad thoughts is exhausted, and thus a decisive conviction arises that everything is the nature of meditation, then wherever the ordinary mind resides, whatever arises, is without arising or ceasing, without acceptance or rejection, without separation or union, without gain or loss. Whether distracted or not, whether remembering or not, whether experiencing or not, whether realizing or not, there is nothing, but it is self-arisen, self-purified, self- liberated, clear and empty, everything is the nature of meditation, recognize it as the environment of meditation, let it flow for about five days, and occasionally let it search for a non-meditative mind. Fifth, in this way, mix the meditative equipoise and post-meditation with that meditative environment. In post-meditation, even if there is a moment of distraction, as long as the subsequent awareness and mindfulness can grasp it, it is enough to recognize that state. Similarly, it is best if you can integrate the daytime environment into the nighttime and bring it into sleep and dreams. If not, even if you are confused, it is enough to recognize that state immediately after waking up. Other than that, do not do anything with signs or intentions, and continue for about five days. Then rest comfortably for one day. Then alternate meditation and rest for seven or ten days, and abide in the
